Excellent, Jake! Be great to meet up. Are you travelling alone?

Yes, except for in Turkey. How many are you now?

Also, looking at your itinerary, I see that I will probably (plan to be) be just a few days ahead of you returning to Europe. From Almaty I'll head north to Russia and make my way to the Ukraine.

I plan to be back in Frankfurt by August 24th, but its very possible I'll be behind at that point and it'd be great to ride along for a few days on the way back if we find ourselves in the same area,

Let me know!

Jake

Hello Wildman,

Sounds really good and hence I would be really interested in coming on board but can you just tell me which countries I will need a Visa for as I see you have completed a great deal work in fashioning your plans and itinerary. Also is there a requirement for a carnet. I will be coming from the UK.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Kindest regards

Ikram

We're a definite two (Belle and I), maybe three (Paul H has some challenge getting time off but still hopes to come along), meeting up with a fourth in Ukraine. We've also got a couple of possible rendezvous en route to ride together for part of the journey.

Hi Ikram

No need for a carnet but you'll need visas for Russia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan before you leave (and Belarus if we plan to do it); we'll get others that we might need en route. We haven't got them yet and should really get round to doing that in the next few weeks (I'm holding things up as I'm moving house next month and I want to get the same address on everything).

Best

Paul

Cheers buddy for that info, so now tell me the exact dates if possible so that I can see if its a possibility or a definite, I'm out of the country mid to late March to return back around mid April but I'm guessing that with Visa's still enroute the plan is to leave maybe June/July.

Dates still as originally planned here. Outside chance of me having to ask others to delay departure by three weeks or try to catch up; should know tomorrow.

Is there a chance you will be leaving end of june? I was interested but I can't go until 1st of July (till August 31). To catch up 3 weeks is a lot of riding!

Hi!

We leave mid-June but, as I said above, there's a chance I'll have to delay by a couple of weeks but if I do, I probably won't return until mid-September as it's a big ride for only eight weeks. That said, there's some short cuts built in. Got the meeting tomorrow to decide if I have to work in late-June or early-September so let's wait and see.

Best

Paul

May see you on the road...

I leave UK Easter Monday. Across Europe, Belarus, Russia (Volgograd for Victory Day parade), Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and up to Magadan...

Back across Trans Siberian from Vladivostok... or maybe across Pacific to ride across USA again...

Safe journey

There's a chance we may be in the Barnaul area round about the same time Paul...

All being well I'm taking the Pamir Highway route through Tajikistan and cutting back up to Barnaul - sort of your route home I believe...

Think I may be in Barnaul 20th / 25th June

Simon
