Took the Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia to the Russian/Mongolian border at Tsaanaguur route in july this year with a Yam 750 super ténéré / sidecar; it's a wonderful trip, so enjoy :funmeteryes:! Most beautiful part was from Tsaganuur through the mountains to Ulaangom, around the lakes and not the main road :thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1:.

Hi Paul,

Andrew from Australia here.

Russell and I plan to do the London to Hong Kong route exactly (or near to it) that you are doing. However we are leaving in May 2011.

We arrive in the UK on the 14th May and will set out shortly thereafter after meeting all the rellies (wife is from the IOW). We are doing the ride to raise money for breast cancer.

Unsure if we can join up along the way, but would sure be fun. Plan to be in Hong Kong on July 14th or thereabouts. China proving very problemtatic and costly, so route may change (Turkey-Iraq-Pakistan-India-Nepal-Vietnam-Cambodia-Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore-Oz si the alternative).

Can you please keep me in the loop for your planning and dates.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew

Certainly will. Even if we don't meet up on route, maybe we can give you a send off from the UK.

Best.

Paul

Ps. i'm guessing you mean Iran, not Iraq!

Hello Everyone. My name is Roberto and i am planning to go to Mongolia as well. My plans is to leave from Italy in May 2011. I am on my own right now, but would like to partner with someone. An idea would be to proceed to Magadan ( Siberia )the following year.

Wildman 10 Oct 2010 07:45

Ciao Roberto

You'll be a month ahead of us but maybe we'll see you on route!

Hallabout 10 Oct 2010 21:30

Can you send me a bit more info on the route this sounds like my dream come true.

I have been wanting to do this trip for a few years now but just never had money, time or freedom in the right ratios.beer

I have an old domintor with bars, racks, large tank and the always needed sheepskin.

also not sure i have got enough riding experience.:mchappy:

Hi. No firm routes as yet but provisional route from Neidersolbach is through Germany, Poland, Belarus (subject to getting visas) and Ukraine into Russia then Lipetsk, Penza, Ufa and Chelyabinsk and up to Kamensk-Uralskiy for the Russian Sidecar Motocross GP, provisionally set for July 10th (to be confirmed later this month). From there it'll be to Tyumen, Omsk, Novosibirsk and Barnaul to the Mongolian Border near Tsagaannuur. No plan yet for Kazakhstan but we hope to get down to Almaty and the Aral Sea before heading back through Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Rep.

Don't worry too much about your riding experience; I've only been riding for four years myself.

Belle and I met in London yesterday and we're both committed to this trip. We plan to leave from Neidersolbach in Germany on Whitsun weekend (11, 12 & 13 June 2011) and return by end August (I have to be in Paris on 7 September hence the dates are fairly fixed). Route is:

Germany, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia to the Russian/Mongolian border at Tsaanaguur.`

From there on, we're flexible and based on the progress that we've made and the weather (it's the rainy season), we'll decide whether to push on to Ulaanbaatar and return via Ulan Ude or perhaps more likely, just spend some time (a week, maybe) in Western Mongolia before returning via Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Germany. The expectation is that if we decide to spend less time in Mongolia, we'll get more time in Kazakhstan so can go further south, maybe even consider picking up visas for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and returning via Turkey.

Let me know if you'd like to join us for all or part of this great trip.

Hi Paul

Yes, still on and not too late. We'll be firming up exact dates and details in the next two weeks or so but they wont change dramatically; Whitsun weekend to end-August.
