Mexico Jan-Feb 2007

Hi All,

I'm planning a trip into Mexico begining in Dallas, Tx around Jan 15, 2007. My basic plan is to scoot through McAllen and head to Zacatecas and explore the "Heartland" for a few days before heading to Mexico City or Veracruz. Down the gulf coast possibly to Merida. Next to Palenque and Chiapas, on to Oaxaca and up the Pacific coast stopping in Puerta Vallarta by Feb 15. With the exception of PV by Feb 15 I'm flexible on where and when I go.

Currently I'm riding alone, though I friend is thinking about it (what this means is his wife is thinking about letting him go). Whether he goes or not extra company will be welcomed. Contact me if you're thinking about a similar ride or will be in Mexico during the same time. Shayne

Meet up for ride in SW USA or Mexico - Jan. 22 - Feb. 15

I'll be around San Diego and I'm looking for someone to ride with Jan. 22 - Feb. 15. I'm flexible as to route, mostly wanting company for a ride. I'm just getting back into riding after a bad accident 2 yrs ago in the Baja. I'm doing a dirt bike riding course in the Baja, Jan. 12-22 to help get my skills and confidence back. I'm planning to put my Vstrom on the back of my truck and drive to San Diego.

Plans locked in

Hey All,

Here's the plan. We're leaving Dallas on or about Jan 15, 07 heading to Brownsville or McAllen. Then we're following the basic plan outlined above. One big difference is we will ride through Guat after Palenque. The plan there is to hit Tikal then head South towards Lake Attilan. Anyone wanting to ride together or meet up just drop me a line. Shayne

similar route, possibly later date

I'm thinking of a similar route with a final destination of Belize City. I have to be there on business around February 15. I may also cross at Brownsville and go straight down the east coast. I will be leaving from northern Colorado so I will trailer my bike (1150GS) south of the snow zone and leave trailer and truck with friends or in storage, depending upon final crossing decision. I would like to cross the border around the 5th of February and give myself 10 or so days to get to Belize City. I’ll base myself there for about 10 days and return at the end of February but am uncertain of the route. I may pop down to Nicaragua to see a few friends. Anyone else heading south around that time and route? How flexible are your dates? Any thoughts or advice?

Mexico Dates

Hi Larry,

Our start date is locked in. Where we go and when, are not. In that regard we are very flexible. We'll be in Mex and Guat from Jan 15-March 7. If you're interested in riding together drop me an email. Shayne

Larry, I'm heading into Mexico at about the same time on my way to Buenos Aires riding a 1150gs too. I'm in Tallahassee, Florida at the moment and about to leave. Let me know if you think we can meet up. Tim tim@timjamesmorgan.com

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
