are you riding a dirt bike or a street bike ? Can it be done on a concours

dualsuz 22 Apr 2011 13:56

Concours

Concours, would be a great bike for the trip, all asphalt, except one little piece in Guatemala, where there was a land slide, last yr. but you can even avid that by going through the big city. have you done any riding in latin america?:scooter:

Mexico in May

My girlfriend and I have been planning to go into Mexico via Brownsville, down through Tampico and on to Honduras on our V Strom 1000 around May 1st, but we would really like some company through the northern part; it seems that Highway 101 is a ghost town right now with the mass grave full of bus passengers found in San Fernando...

We'd be willing to change the dates around for some experienced company! I'm not a spooky person...I cruised around Bangkok during the massive protests in 2008...but these news reports are getting pretty prolific, and there's no reason to be an easy target. Let me know what works for you:thumbup1:

Company

Hay, that would be fine, I would enjoy the company, I am riding a Suzuki DR650, which I am picking up in Denver on the 8th of may and heading to AZ. to get the bike ready, like I said in the post I am flexible, as long as I get everything done, I need to do.
I usually buy-pass Salvador, and that eliminates two boarders to cross, I have do this ride with 5 riders, and just 2, and also alone, it is much more enjoyable with company. We should try and connect buy phone, I am not shure how to do a private message yet, but will look into it.:thumbup1:

I'm leaving from McAllen to Panama next week on a KLR-650. I am flexible on route as I am brand spanking new to Adventure riding. However, I have about 9 months riding experience in MX on sport bikes, and 6 years\50K overall. I have 6-7 weeks to make the trip. I'd like to BS with you guys about your route-plan if you had a chance.

Chip

Route

The way I have planed is down the east cost of Mex.cut across Chiapas to San Cristable, cross above Hue-Hue tanango, through the maountains to Coban woo this could get long lets find another way to do this if you are interested.

I will be heading down to the Yucatan late May so I would be right behind you. I will be sticking mostly to asphalt but wouldn't mind running into some company along the way.

trip

Richard, I will be in the Sun Lakes area on about the 10th or 11th and my plan is to cross the boarder on the 20th or 22, flexable, maybe we can get together in AZ. and talk about the trip.

My semester ends that week so I would be free to meet up around that time.

Early May

Hi,
I've been trying to find some company leaving from Texas in early May, so maybe Mujeriego's schedule might work. As I mentioned before, we had planned to go through Brownsville, but anything in that area is ok for us... Which way are you planning to head after McAllen? We are headed for Belize, so we were probably going to stay to the east.

If you guys end up coming through Antigua (Guatemala), feel free to stop by Moto Cafe and hang with your fellow motorcyclists for a beer or coffee. Local advice freely shared.

Safe riding!
