Manchester to Cape Town via Kenya March 2012

Hi All

I've gone and done it. Jacked in the 9-5. No ties. No responsibilities. No commuting on a filthy slow train. Im 31. And now is the time....

Next March I'm heading south, on 2 wheels. Plan is to head down the east side of Africa, mostly by camping. I want to find kenya and hang out there for a month, soak it all up, perhaps work in a school...Then, continuing down to botswana, or head west and ride back up that side.

If anyone is dreaming the same thing and wants to share notes or hook-up enroute let me know. If anyone has done this recently and knows of any problems with a route then your experiences are greatly appreciated!

(i've ridden round europe but nothing of this magnitude!):mchappy:

thanks,
Les

Hello Les,

Am planning to go on 2 wheels August 2012. Hope Libya is open by then
and Egypt i find it to be ok.
Have read plenty of blogs and i know quite well what to expect enroute.
Keep in mind the rainseason Eth/Kenya is from march to may and the worst roads are just before Nairobi.
We will see what happens but am surely in favour of a night out in nbo!

good riding--------------geert

Tony,

sounds absolutely fantastic! really spurs me on! If we're both going opposite ways round I wonder where our paths may collide...

Good Luck!

Cape Town to Shanghai on KTM 990 Adventures. The trip has been awesome so far and we have reached Alexandria at north of Africa after 20,000kms.
