Long shot , bike rider needed Spanish trip

Hello all...heres a very long shot aimed at blueyonder....I have a bmw r850r in Spain, in my house up in the mountains in Avila, 95 miles west of Madrid. I will pay for you and the bike to come back Bilbao to Portsmouth I think the crossing is on 6th or 7th jan..will also sort petrol from Avila to Bilbao ....you will need to get yourself to the village, can poss help with lift from Madrid with a friend..ryannair do cheap flights from stansted to valladolid which is same distance north of town.....plus obviously you can stay in the house , comfy tv , dvd, modern kitchen stainless new, bathroom tiled, new, in a small Spanish village in Sierra de Gredos, lots of fiestas over new year...no probs of course you are obviously very welcome staying till the day of ferry coming back...village to bilbao is about 7 hours, maybe less but the ferry leaves at 13.15 from bilbao so early start that day and gets into Portsmouth next day..can poss nip down and meet you there with van..otherwise we are at Heathrow or can collect from you asap..cannot go myself as have two important job interviews that week and work things...anyway send me message anyone and we can chat. Suit crazy biker with sense of adventure, bit of spare cash ,bored and free for next ten days...and fancies something different and a trip into an unknown adventure, so I know Im looking in the right place !!....ha ha. If you like the house, absolute TOP part of scenic Spain you can stay there for a free holiday in spring-summer next year too...! the reason why it has to be that day is the ferry crossing is reasonably cheap then they have a break in the service..I have kit, helmet with the bike....please adv asap or will have to look for a man with van type service to get it back..cheers

Tempted by this offer!

Hi Bobby

Very tempted to help out here and get myself a badly need adventure (and some solo time to think!) at the same time, courtesy of your great offer.

I have just checked with Ryanair and there is a flight on Sunday 4th Jan for 50 quid to Madrid and I can get to Avila under my own steam, no problem.

I would probably only stay the night and head off to stay in Bilbao, as I have always wanted to visit Guernica:

Bombing of Guernica - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and it is next door to Bilbao.

I will take my trusty Rukka jacket and trousers, Daytona boots, plus Aqua gloves and would like to know what helmet you will be providing, as I guess you want that back here as well? What luggage is on the R850R and do you need anything else bought back? Also does the Beemer have an MOT and Tax? and a screen?

I take it you are in the Heathrow area and that works well, as my Father lives in Egham and I can leave the bike with you on arrival at yours.

When we left West London, where I grew up, my wife and I, then kids, lived in Staines for 12 years, working in sales for DHL, then Federal Express and moved to a village near Chipping Norton in Nth Oxon about ten years ago, where I sell bikes and some cars for a not very good living! see the welovebikes website, that comes out as this link for some reason: Used Motorcycle Sales Covering the Southern England

If you want me to carry out the trip, I will be in the Heathrow area this week and will be pleased to meet up, as it may be helpful to both parties to put faces to names etc.

Love this site and the opportunities that stem from it!

Cheers

Chris

PS: By the way, have trade insurance to cover me from Spain to UK.

Welcome Back!

Hi Linzi

Can't keep a good man down, as I thought you'd still be thawing out after just getting back from Montenegro! Saw your latest posts and meant to tell Bobby to have a look at the saga from beginning to end on the Discobikers thread on the Europe section. Hey Bobby, have a look!

Great job you did for Damien and a lot more then I could have handled, but a leisurely New Year's Spanish tickler, Ooh er Missus, is about all I could handle this time of the year!

At the end of the day it's down to Bobby and please feel free to present your HU CV to him, but it does looks like he's having a torrid week with them already this week!

All the best to you both.

Cheers

Chris

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
