London to Cape Town East Route - LC80

Hi fellow travellers!

I'm hoping to drive LC80 down from London to Cape Town via the East, route across the Med via to RoRo from Mersin to Port Said .

Hoping to leave London in December 2012 or January 2013, drive to Italy, probably ferry across Greece to Turkey and then RoRo to Egypt.

Route subject to change but keen on the following:
Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi (Mozambique poss), Zambia, Bots, Namibia and down to the beautiful Cape Town!

I'm a 34yo girl, looking for travel partners as would like to fill seats - preferably 1x doctor, 1x mechanic and 1x cook - don't all shout at once!

Also keen to hook up with other vehicles doing similar trip to fill up the ferry crossing into Sudan, and to cruise with!

Anyone got any idea how long it takes to get a Sudanese visa - hear it takes around 2 months?!

If anyone's got any more information on the RoRo, or the Sudanese visa (time frame), I'd be very grateful.

Right, so who's keen to join me?

Hello, I'm leaving to do a very similar route and will be setting off just about a month ahead of you, but returning to uk for 2 weeks in oct so not impossible that we might be in some countries at the same time. I'm also leaving from London solo. If you want to pm me then would be fab to exchange details and chat. Good luck with the prepping! Claire

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
