Smile Leh in Late July

Myself and Mark will be riding the Manali-Leh highway making Leh around 3rd week in July. If all goes to plan....we will be in India after all!!! If you're going to be in the area please get in touch as we'd love to get together and compare experiences.

Hope to hear from you

Gemma

McLeod Ganj

Hey all

Was just about to do a post to see who was in the area and fell upon this one. Good stuff!

So anyways, I am on my pre-RTW holiday, in India, and sad to say without my bike. I have a couple more months here until meeting my travelling buddy (Baronbolton) in South Korea and starting the big trip. I ride a Honda XR650L.

I am based in McLeod Ganj for the next month at least (volunteering teaching english), and while its not quite on the Manali - Leh route, I would highly recommend a detour, if simply to say hello to the Dalai Lama. I dont know where you all are now, but its his birthday on Monday and so there should be celebrations here that day.

I am suffering severe cold turkey, not having any biking friends at the mo, so if any of you do end up passing this way, whenever, please PM me. That would be ace! I let you know where to get the best Momos!

If not, I wish you all the best on your travels! Whooooop.

Hi Charlotte, Hi Thomas,

I am still in Kasghar waiting for my tyres which are expected to come next tuesday. From there, I ride down the KKH for about 2 weeks (maybe slightly less depending on the trecking I will be able to do on the way) before getting into India from Lahore. From there, I was planning to go up to Srinagar. Depending on the effectiveness of my timing, I did plan to do a stop in McLeod Ganj. I would love to meet up with you Charlotte. I will keep you posted.
Thomas, my timing, if your is fixed, might be a little be too late. If you can delay your trip for a week, we could meet up in McLeod for example or in Leh for the way down to Manali ? Let me know.

A.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
