Leave Bike in UB and fly back?
 

Just a thought - Im thinking of running to Mongolia late next year (2007). My question is would any one there like to use the bike to return to the UK? Like a lot of people I have to work and dream but can wangle a 6 week break next year. Id like to travel to Mongolia via Russia and then either sell the thing there (if possible @ cost not into making money just want to travel) or even get a fellow traveller to ride it back for me. Possible or not? anyone got any ideas? I dont think a Carnet is needed in Mongolia but I could imagine problems with some borders re ownership???

Hi there, just got home from Mongolia (drove nissan micra there and back!?). No carnets needed to get through Russia and into Mongolia. Whoever is bringing the bike home has to have the ownership documents with them and in their name or they wont get far, or into Russia.

Someone could buy the bike from you and then you get new docs at home and have 'em sent out.

Thanks for that. Ive been looking into shipping the bike and myself to UB on a train. I could ride from the UK to Moscow get a 41/2 day train to UB and spend the next 4 weeks amblin back... Dont suppose you met anyone in Mongolia that could find out costs and possiblities with an email address?

If not well done on the trip. Any good experences?
