Heading to Mexico - looking for company

I'm in the process of planning a trip to Mexico in the February timeframe (no firm date set) on my KLR. I live in Vancouver, BC and since I don't have a trailer or truck would be riding down I5 to LA and then over to Tucson and enter Mexico somewhere from there. Want to explore the Copper Canyon and then wander down to the Yucatan peninsula, into Belize, Guatamala then up to Mexico to Mazatlan, ferry to La Paz and then up the Baja back home. I'm a reasonably experienced rider (on my R1200RT have ridden all of Canada and the 48 states) but would like to have some company on this trip. Still a bit nervous about what is going on in Mexico so feel that one or two other bikes would make the trip safer. Would probably want to stay in cheap hotels etc. rather than camping. If anyone is interested, please contact me. David

There's no issue. I've done 5000KM in Mexico, 98% of it solo so far and haven't had an issue. I also speak very little spanish and went where everybody said not to go (through the sierra highlands, back roads, etc.)

I try to ride off-road whenever I can, random camp, etc. No problems.

Currently in Guanajuato. Only bad thing that has happened to me was an attempt to steal my bike two nights ago in Guadalajara. You can read about it on ADVrider:

I second the " No Problema," en Mexico. I live here.

If you run drugs and or guns or associate w/ people that do you might have problems.

I still don't have the exact mileage worked out but am thinking that it is going to take 5 - 6 weeks. One of those weeks hopefully be in Cabos san Lucas where my wife will fly down and we'll spend a week R&R and then she'll fly home and I'll continue up the Baja. Once I get exact mileage etc then I'll have a much better idea.
