Still in Bolivia?

I'm in Potosi looking for someone to cross the altiplano with into San Pedro de Aticama, Chile. Then, I'm headed straight for Buenos Aires too.

hola

Hey Derby City,

Sounds interesting. What kind of bike are you on and do you know what the road to Chile is like?

I'm on a KLR 650. From what I know it's about 200 miles of dirt/gravel roads with a little sand in spots. This is a blog of a guy that did it a couple years ago.

Also, I just met a traveler headed north who did it a couple weeks ago. He said it was nice and dry, so I don't think there will be any issues with slick mud.

hey there

Well, my new chain and sprockets were supposed to arrive by courier today and no dice! I begged them to send it DHL, but they insisted on UPS.

Anyway, I don't want to keep you hanging. The other thing is I have JD weld on my crackcase and was going to avoid rough roads for a bit.... but it just sounds sooo fun!

Where are you at time wise? I'm close to the end of my veh permit and visa so I'm gonna have to duck out of country or get an extention if I can very soon!

I have plenty of time on my vehicle permit, but a job back home in the states is forcing me to press on quickly. I'll be in Uyuni on Sunday & Monday. On Tuesday will either head to San Pedro de Atacama, or just head south to Argentina on the main roads in Bolivia.

Where are you located at right now? If you're in Potosi, Uyuni, or somewhere else close, maybe we could meet up for a beer?

la paz

Hey Again,

Yes, im in La Paz, but the minute the chain and sprockets are on im outta here. been here way too long. I did want a day in Uyuni but other than that I just need to head for Argentina and probably store the bike there or in Uraguay and I have to fly home and take care of stuff as well. I'm guessing your leaving your bike down there as well?

Planning to fly my bike home to the United States. If the chain and sprockets arrive in the next couple days, send me a line.
