Week or so behind you

Hi Rossa

My wife and I are about a week to 10 days behind you, riding to Volgograd today. We were hoping to enter Mongolia from the West side however with the flooding near Irkutsk we are not sure about the roads. Our visa will only allow us to enter Mongolia once so we may have to ride around to Lake Bajkal before entering Mongolia. Please keep us posted with any flooding issues.

Hopefully we may catch up in Mongolia.

Safe riding

Road conditions in Kazakhstan

Hi Rossa -

In September I'll be crossing western Kazakhstan and am very interested in road conditions there. I will have a right motorcycle (Honda Transalp) but I'll be on my own and want to know what to expect. My present plan is to go Saratov - Uralsk - Aktubinsk (Aktube?) - Aralsk - Almaty but it is not cut in stone. Please email me through HUBB or directly via _ndmystko_at_ndmystko_._net_ if you skip underscores or reply to this tread if you prefer. Have a safe trip on that remote road you chose.

Ken -

Same question for you. I didn't think you'll be crossing Kazakhstan when we met in Poland so I'm asking my question only now. I'm reading your website and I'm glad everything's going well. If you post your thoughts on road conditions to the website, I'll find it but please be specific about the route you chose. Say 'hello' to Toni and have a safe trip.

Semey (KAZ) tomorrow 10/7/06

Anyone near Semey? Toni and I shall be leaving KAZ and heading back in to Russia Tuesday heading for Mongolia a week or so after that. IF anyone is in the area it would be great to catch up.

We have found KAZ to be the best part of the trip. The people have been so friendly and the roads are better than Russia (apart from a few heart stoppers).
