Kathmandu, Nepal

There are one, two or three of us (we're all thinking) of travelling from the U.K. to Kathmandu and back starting mid August 2009.

The journey through Europe is flexible but probably taking a northern route on the way out and southern on the way back. Then Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India and Nepal.

Time scale 2 - 3 months.

Anybody else interested?

Hi Peter

I've been thinking for some time about doing northern India overland and am currently getting info together and sketching routes. It looks about 6500 miles Calais to Kathmandu.

I might be interested in joining your outbound leg, at least for the Turkey >Iran >Pakistan >India section.

I'm not sure about the return leg. I suspect I would want to stay longer but not sure how I go about getting the return visa through Pakistan.

Probably using F650GS twin though the R1200GSA is an alternative.

Tim

Hi AT,

St. Louis brilliant as usual.

Even though there was a military coup in Mauritania you'd be hard pressed to notice any difference. Still the same corruption, still the same hassle at Rosso, slightly more hassle at Djama but not as bad as Rosso. No problems at the Morrocan and Malian crossings. Atar region, despite terrorist problems, seems to have stabilised and is brilliant

I'd love to do this trip but can't this year due to money and work. How much would it cost for this trip do you think?

Are you driving or riding?

I can't wait until you guys head off, make sure you snap away like no tommorow!
