Karakoram Highway ---Let's GO!
 

I'm building a trip around riding the Karakoram Highway, this August. Thinking of starting somewhere near Baku and ending either in Nepal or Bhutan. Very flexible as long as we ride the Karakoram.

Have one fellow rider, and the more the merrier!

I may be there around that time. If you are starting in Baku, are you going through Turkmenistan and how do you plan on getting through, tour or transit visa?

Haven't gotten to visa stage yet, but definitely going the "stan" route, rather than Iran. Been seeing a lot of play on the variability of different crossings, notably China. What are you planning?

I will probably be in that area in August. I'll watch this post for any progress on your plans.

Tony, regarding the Stans, if we take that route, we would be headed from Kyrgzistan to Pakistan via Kashgar. The China crossing is the tricky part, the permits & permission take at least 70 days in advance to organize. So a bit of advance planning needs to be done.

We would be crossing through China via Kashgar sometime in October...
