Japan to Europe - interested in joining the adventure?

From July 2002 I`m planning a trip from Vladivostok to Europe on my DR-Z400. I take in Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, and Europe. I`ve chosen countries which don`t require a carnet de passage to keep costs down. Let me know if your interested.

Hello Viktor,
I am going the same route next year. Don't have any money now! I have friends who have done the Russia to Europe route, though. And from their timetables, I would recommend you get an earlier start if possible. Since you are in Japan, I assume you or someone near you can read Japanese. So see this site from Ken and Yuko Araki. http://www.mapple.net/touring/05special/world/ They left in August, I think, and hit snow in Turkey and couldn't move for quite a while.
Patrick and Lorenz from Austria http://www.transasia.at/left Japan in June and didn't arrive back in Austria until November.
BTW, I got the 2002 Vladivostok ferry schedule today and posted it on my website. http://www2.gol.com/users/chrisl/japan/
Re. your post on "How much gear and spares", I am going to try to sent tires from Vlad to Novosibirsk (if I can find someone there to hold them for me) and change tires there.

Thank for all the great advice Chris - I've been trying to sought out the ferry service to Vlad. I want to leave earlier but I too am contrained by funds. What are you doing in Tokyo? I'm with NOVA in Osaka.

Cheers
Viktor

Hey Vincent,

When I finalise my route and schedule, I'll let you know so that we can work at a possible meeting along the way. And thanks for your advice to my other questions. I haven't worked out anything with visa yet. I'll let you know how I go.

Cheers
Viktor

for russia, remember www.ryh.ru, they are relaible, good, cheap and nice
if you don't have time but money, try visatorussia.com (somethink like that, a google search), they do everything for ex-ussr
otherwise, i did my invitations with local travel agents i know in france + used lonely planet guide with the names of travel agents there (cheaper if you have time)

i'm almost done with invitations, ouf !

safe travels, maybe see you in the middle :-)
