Hi Maaretsu!

I fly tomorrw,(7 Juli) to Bogota, i want to spend some time in Columbia! Where are you now?

I'm in Bogota after heading down from Cartegena a couple of weeks back. Will be flying back to the UK for a few weeks on the 15th. Would be good to meet up if you fancy a beer or a trip on the bikes.

I'm staying at a friend's flat in Bogota. Drop me a mail and I'll be in touch. Are you staying at the Platypus?

By the way, I paid $350 for the bike and $250 for me to travel by yacht to Cartegena from Colon. The captain, Daniel Ayora does the trip a few times a year and seems happy to make a bit more cash taking bikes. His email is trinaylamp@hotmail.com. I would recommend this guy as very reliable following some dubious feedback on other boat captains. One word of warning, the paperwork is a bit difficult and cost me $50 for an agent to complete it for me.

I'm hidding north tomorrow (Monday), direction Santa Marta, Cartagena before going south again. I want to spend about a month in Columbia!
Would be nice to meet you somewhere and have a beer together!

Hasta Luego Albert

If you do take a boat, dont take it with a 50 year old yank by the name of Jimmy, he lurkes around the hostels, stalking his prey (so you probably wont see him Mary http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif ) He´s unorganised and crap, lost a bunch of passports for travelers and delayed their journey from Panama to Colombia by 3 weeks....

Would be good to establish some clearer details on the whole yachting lark from Colon to Cartegena. Plenty of other bikes are going on yachts without the problems associated with this muppet Brian mentions and others.

Hope to catch up with you Albert later in the year further south. The English summer beckons for 6 weeks.

Is flying less expensive than a boat ride? $600.00 sounds a bit expensive for a bike and person by boat. Anything less expensive?
