Hi Maartin:

Sorry I missed you, I was in Southern Poland all last week, but am back in Zurich now. I got detoured around the Dresden floods both coming and going. Destruction was beyond description.

Hi all,

Michael, you did not miss anything. I got stuck between Dresden and the Czechie border for 3 day's. First day and night without power. Only the hotel-owner hooked up a small generator to the TV we knew what had happened. No fun there.

Right now I am in Brasov, heading down to Bulgarian border tomorrow and cross Bulgaria the day after.

Borders in Romania are not dificult, but the paperwork needs to be in order.

If you don't drive an off-road or all-road, stick to the main roads. A 15 Km shortcut (I came back from a visit to Dracula) took me 1,5 hours.... on an Africa Twin!

I did find a super camping, but don't have my note's with me
It's between Sibiu and Fargas, after the turn-off to the 7C on the left in the town Cirta (or Carta). Run by a dutch couple.

The 7c is superb hairpin driving. You go up to 2000 meters, about 100 hairpins (did not actually count them)

I am meeting the Turkisch community in a few day's... must be great!

Hi folks

Good to hear everyone has come through the floods ok. I'm currently in Budapest and have taken a flat here for the next week. Came up through Croatia and then Bosnia. I can recommend Sarajevo as a very interesting place to visit. Stayed in a great Hostel there, contact sartour@1sinter.net for details. If anyone fancies a few s in Budapest over the next few days please get in touch. They're having their flood delayed firework celebrations this weekend.

Hope to catch up with some of you folks in Turkey/Iran, got my Iranian visa through last week, ahh one of life's little triumphs!

Gordon

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
