Info and looking for company on Mauretanian pistes in november
 

Hi all
I'm planning to drive from the Netherlands to Ghana from okt-dec this year
I would like to take the piste to Atar and from there south to to Tidjikja. For these stretches I prefer to drive in convoi. I'm reasonably experienced with transafrica motorbike tours, but this time take the family with me.

We are still in th process of getting visa's, the car is ready for departure (Patrol 2.8)

I expect to cross the Maroc-Mau border the 1st week of november

1) Does anyone has recent experience with obtaining visa's for Mauretania at home?
2) as far as I understood canet de passage is not needed for mauretania, mali, burkina and ghana, correct?

I was through the region last november and I needed the Carnet starting at Mauritania. Also make sure you have your 'carte grise' and several copies of it, it will smooth the process through the borders & reduce the likelyhood of additonal 'fees'.
