India in November till...April...

Hi everybody,

I'm Greg, 36, from France, and I should arrive in Delhi at the begining of November. My dream is to buy a Royal Enfield and travell across India and further in Asia.
I try to find some informations, advices, adress, new friends on this trip.
It can be great to meet travelers doing the same during those next 6 months so if you are in India during this winter, let keep in touch !
We could have a drink and exchange feelings and why not share the road together.
There's so many things to see than I hope our ways should join one day !
Here we go ? Incredible India, isn't it ?
Does anyone exactly where to buy a Bullet in Delhi ? In touch with sonimotors...
Well, to start the trip I don't know what's the best : go up to Manali or go to Rajasthan ?
I'm afraid of the weather going to North in mountains it can change so fast. How cold can it be there ? Is it rainning a lot ?
What about Rajasthan ? The Camelfair in Phuskar ? I guess approximatly a 2500-3000 km trip through desert.
I would like to carry the bike by train from Agra to South : Kerala / Goa and be there for Xmas and then go to Pundichery...

See you soon !!!
Greg.

Hey Greg. I'm heading to Delhi next week to buy an Enfield also. Where did you get yours? How much did you pay? How hard was it to put it in your name? Any info you can give me would be great. If we are in the same area we should meet up for a drink.

Most guidebooks have the bike wallah areas in them. If you buy in Delhi and you are not used to Indian traffic get up real early and make the outskirts by dawn, my trick anyway.
Mountains in Nov-Dec ? it's getting cold up there, my choice would be the Paki border route , Amritsar ,Jaiselmer to Guhdjerat. The roads are terrific because of the Indian army wanting fast access along the border. Pushkar is a must see some bikes around for sale (mainly tourists). From here to Pondicherry your main trouble spot will be crossing the Ahmdevad-Delhi-Mumbai corridor. You might want to head over the Deccans to Pondi' then down and around to Kerala to avoid a little congestion, the east coast has some gems and not as many tourists.
Quite a few people buy bikes in Delhi/Rajastan and train them to Goa to sell to the tourists to supplement their holiday costs so you wont be alone there. What you are planning is the general approach to doing the west coast/desert on a bike. :scooter:

Oh and welcome to the Hubb :)

My wife and I are in Goa right now and will be heading down the west coast soon before heading back up through the center of India and into Nepal by February. Let us know when you come south and maybe we can meet up
