ColOmbia... And do some research lest you find yourself renegotiating your pasage price while your bike hangs from a winch over the water in the middle of the Caribean...

In Panama City, go to the Hostels (there's a few of them within a couple blocks of each other now) and ask around and look at the message boards, you'll find a few i'm sure. Your next option is to just go to Portobelo and ask around. We camped in the ruins, there's no hotel. If you meet Leonardo, tell him i say hi ;)
DON'T go to Colon, unless you have to, and even then, you would really have to!
Going rate is about $200 per bike, $250 per person. Trip is a few days, give or take a week...depends on the weather.
I just remembered, it's hurricane season!
...errrr good luck.

Panama - CTG shipping

There is a whole thread by LocoKiwi on his recent experience shipping by boat. Also there is some information in the shipping database in the Planning section.

Look in the journal archives, there may be more on the boat/captain.

check out my blog ON A MISSION FROM DOG and go to archives and sailing. The email contact of the man I went with is on there. And it's $275 per person.

missed the boat

Hi Dave, we are just in Costa Rica and are heading to Panama tomorrow.
We were hoping to get to Cartegena on the "Stahlratte" but they are on holidays till the 25 of september.
So we will probably fly to bogota if there are no other good boats available soon.
If you are still around let us know.
Cheers, Peter and Carol
