Hi...I would love to hop on board but your timing unfortunately doesnt fit exactly. I am looking at a West Africa loop, leaving the UK around October - I could prob move a month either side.

Was thinking of beginning in Algeria, through to Niger, Mali, Guinea C, Sierra Leone, Guinea C, Mali, Mauritania, Western Sahara, Morocco.....then on home.....or vice versa.

Your dates critical ?

I would be on an XT600.

Hi all,
I have one month, november to travel to/in W.Africa. First plan was to go by Morocco, Mauritania,Senegal and go to Tombouctou , in Mali. But i don't know if that's enough time to spend. Especialy the 1500 km of tarmac in Mauritania is no fun. Maybe it would be better for my to send my bike to Senegal by boat and travel around and come back by bike. What do you think?

all the way south

I am in the early stages of planning a trip London to Cape Town via the western route. Recently completed a RTW and the Americas mainly on my own. Is there anyone interested in teaming up for this trip?

I am interested!!! I completed a Korea/Russia/Mongolia/Ukraine/Poland/Germany/Netherlands trip summer 2010. My first overseas bike ride. I would be ready to go around April/May. I believe this has been done by others on this site. Do you know of any links that tell of their experience. I just started reading about the countries along the route to learn about road conditions, hotel availability, languages etc. What do you have planned to date?

Hi Lance
On Thursday I am meeting with an old riding mate who did this route to Cape Town in Mar 2010. Hopefully he will be able to give me the low down and I will then be able to give you more information

Cape Town

That sounds very interesting, good folk. What kind of time frames were you looking at, and how long a journey would this be. I would be interested if having a novice on board would not affect you too much.
:-)

Hi. I have talked to my friend and he has given me the low down on roads, weather, places to cross borders, good places to stay etc etc I think that it is worth starting private mails but not sure how to do it on here. I can pass on all of his tips. He rode the west coast last March for 3 months.
I will be riding a Triumph Tiger 800xcor at least once I have got the bike.
