If you are planning to be out of Iran by end of June (worst case - W2 july) you should be OK. Tajikistan even though majority islamic nation, should be better than the ultra-coservatives in the middle-east.

I'm still planning my words / approach to bring up this topic with my boss at work. Would love to do it, but can't afford to quit a decent paying job at this economic situation. I should know in a few days time.

I count with about 3 months on the road, starting middle of may...first Montenegro and Albania, than Georgia and then Mongolia.
I think that I will be in UB and Mongolia around the second/thirth week of july (I want to try to pick-up with the Nadaam-festivities there :-) ). Maybe our timings dont correspond very good, but we'll see hé :-)

Btw, I just decided to take the DRZ400E out for this trip and sell my GSA.

Just need to change (again) to another seat as that's the only real problem of this bike.

aha .. i thought you might have left it unchanged .. so i thought i could make fun of you .. :oops2: i'm looking stupid now.

anyways, so the last weekend (weekend is Fri-Sat for us here) i had a word with the boss at work (the one at home still needs to be fully convinced) and there was aslight hint of positiveness giving the message that he will be thinking about it so that gives me some hope that i might be allowed to take a few months off ... i need to bring it up again this week to have a final picture.
