Headed to Mexico via AZ? Rider at Nogales seeking compadres

Direction-challenged Canuck has opted to forego Baja route (as mentioned in previous thread) and is now hanging just above Nogales, anticipating coastal touring and the Copper Canyon. Guatemala-bound. Flexible regarding routes, but with my RT it can't involve anything too gnarly. If you're headed down this way give me a shout. Cheers.

Direction Challenged Ozi

Have GPS ! Heading all the way south ! Leaving Sioux City (Brrrrrrrr) early next week! Cheers Dave.

Hola Dave! Am currently nursing a wee cold in legendary Creel, content to hang a bit. Great town with travelers from all over Mex and the world. I reckon you have some 2000-plus kms to cover. What's your plan? X'ing at Presidio? My plan was to head to Parral and Durango and ride 'The Devil's Backbone into Mazatlan. Let me know if that appeals to you. And if you have a tel # please include it as I've been using the Magic Jack app successfully.
Cheers.

GPS Vs Tequila ;-0

G'day Seth,

Thanks for the PM. Plans - minimal, direction - south :-) I'm heading up to collect the bike today, might take a day or 2 to get it sorted. I have to stop in Phoenix on the way south to sort out some paperwork ect. So it'll be the best part of a week before I get truly mobile. It'll give you a bit of time to get your liver in order for the onslaught ;-)

Cheers Dave

Righty-0 Dave. Hard to say where I might be by the time you boogie down this way but let's keep one another apprised. If you are Phoenix-bound then I can recommend the Nogales X'ing for sure. Watch out for those goddam 'topes' speed bumps. The bigger bastards can kill ya if you don't absolutely crawl over them. Buena suerte. sethout

From New Jersey to Buenos Aires

Hi:
I will be leaving New Jersey the day after Thanksgiving. I just retired and moving to Argentina.
I am riding a 2012 Vstrom 650. I am planning on arriving in Buenos Aires at the beginning of February. I would like to spend more time on the road, but I have an import permit for the bike that expires before the end of February.
I will be crossing to Mexico at Nogales, and then taking the toll roads south
when available.

Congrats on yr retirement, Juan. Please keep in touch via this thread as you make yr way down the coast. You might consider a diversion inland to the Copper Canyon from Hermosillo. You can rejoin the toll road at Mazatlan. Thanks for the contact.

Thanks for the heads up on the speed bumps Seth, I will keep in touch and though the timing might not suit.

Juan good job on the retirement and the move, hope to catch you on the road.

Cheers Dave

On the road at last and how bloody cold is it :eek3:

Sioux City to Kansas yesterday, Amarillo today:freezing:

sethman 26 Nov 2013 15:21

if it's any consolation Dave this morn in Parral it's freezing. High to be around 17C . I used my electric vest on the spectacular ride down here from Divisadera via Creel. I ended up taking that Hwy 25 route on the advice of another Creel local. Encountered one military roadblock and the soldiers assured me there was nada to worry about. Blissful riding, corner after corner after hairpin. Heading toward Durango today where it apparently won't be that much warmer. The coastal temps are another story. The end for this week however looks better. But whether riding the interior or the coast, get sunscreen! Happy trails.sethout

Ha 17C ? :Beach:

Crikey it was 0 when I left Sioux City and much the same yesterday in Kansas, unfortunately the same again today :censored: Character building stuff :eek3:

riding with Harleys around the Nyarit Riviera

Hola! Wondering if you´re warm yet and if you want me to save you some of this tequila. Actually, the place I´m camping has a Canadian resident who buys 350 litres of it at a time and sells to all the ex-pats.
Where are you at? Going to come down Hwy 200 on the west coast? I´m hanging around this area (Guayabitos, Sayulita, Puerta Vallarta) for the next several days... how long do you figure you´ll be in getting anywhere near these parts?

I bet you´re smiling, even if you are colder´n a witch´s tit.

Lemme know yer whereabouts mate, and enjoy Mexico. This country and its roads and people rock.

G'day Seth, made it to Phoenix, considerably thawed, oddly I still have all digits in tact! Got the bike checked in with Dillon (ABSOLUTE LEGEND) at Zen Moto tomorrow morning for a slap n tickle. Plan to bail out and bolt for Mexico Thursday. Good to hear the liver is firing on all 8! Mate your a bit too far south for me, I'm going to have to spend some time exploring the north, we will cross paths, maybe on your way back ?

Riding Mexico carretera 200

I am staying at a motel some 80 miles south of Puerto Vallarta, resting for a couple of days. So far my trip has been OK. I am planning on riding the carretera 200 all the way to the border with Guatemala. Then keep going to Panama. Hope to see some other riders along the way.
