Hello Jenny,

I'm currently in negotiations with my employer for a three to four month sabbatical. I'd like to think I'd be leaving for India at the beginning of March 2012.

From reading other people's plans they seem to be heading east towards the end of the year, presumably to avoid the heat. No doubt this is the way to go but unfortunately my plans don't allow it.

Assuming leave from work is granted the next hurdle is obtaining the necessary visas. Any help/advice on this matter would be most welcome.

Are you planning to leave earlier than March?

Pete

Charlie,

Did you get your Iran and India visas before you left England or where you are now? Any useful tips for the Iranian visa application would be welcome.

I realise I'm in the wrong section for visa talk but I'll press on anyway. Assuming your visa application is successful how long do you have to submit your passport for the stamp? And am I right in saying that you then have three months to enter the country? (I'm thinking in particular of Iran and Pakistan).

Cheers

just got my reference number for the iranian visa... used Iran Travel & Visa Service - Iran Tours/Trips/Group holidays.... they charged me £120. Easy peasy... only took a few days to get the number from application..

I now have 3 months to get the visa stamped into my passport (i eleceted to get my visa stamped at the iranian consulate in Istanbul. I have to cough up £55 for an aussie + fill in a basic app form and visa photos ). Then you have another 3 months to enter to the country... my visa was issued for 18 days which is more than enough time for me,....

i suggest pay the fee for an agency, i understand attaning the ref number on your ace can be a bit of a mission....

Cheers

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
