Goin to california...

Hello. This isn't carved in stone yet, but if all goes well i'll be leaving on Feb.4 and heading south to Cali for 3-4 weeks of motorcycle bliss http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif Being close to home, California is my favorite to ride. Not just the scenery, twisty ocean highways, nostalgic?? peaks, lonely desserts and cavernous valleys, but the cars that share the highway with you! Riding in Vancouver, you learn to ride thinking "I am invisable" no one looks for you in BC. Here, the concept of lane-splitting is unheard of and illegal. You won't believe how over-joyed i was when i first witnessed, and then practiced "lane-splitting". People actually see you coming and pulling over to give the big GS some more room.
...Anyways, just wondering if there was anyone out there interested in meeting up for dayrides. Where i go may be determined by weather, but my budget is $30USD/day+gascard http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif Lots of camping and backroads. Love Cali, so any tips would be great!

Mr. Ron:

I would be pleased to meet up with you for some local riding. We are located in Laguna Beach, between L.A. and San Diego. It is a great ride from here to the desert (Palm Springs), for example. Shoot me an e-mail to discuss details.

Where in California did people move out of your way? The San Francisco Bay Area has been the only part of California I've seen where people notice bikes on the road.

I've had people see me lane-splitting who moved over to try to hit me on purpose. That's always good for a laugh.

I'm amazed that after circling all of Australia, I haven't had anyone pull out in front of me. There's a lot of motorbikes on the road out here and people notice. Although I do miss the lane splitting.

What color is you bike? Black & white, Dark blue & white.
Do you have large tinted lights in front?
Do you have a large star on your tank?

...LOL!!
I tell you, ride the Vancouver area for a while and you'll see what i mean.
....Hmmm, maybe it's the AK-47 mounted to the fairing that gets peoples attention...
