UK guy in USA on a round the world trip

Hi all

I am currently in Tacoma WA. Having rode from UK thru Europe, Turkey, Georgia, Mongolia, Russia and South Korea I now find myself on the next leg of this fantastic trip.

The thing is, I dont really know what to see in the USA, I have been given a 6 month visa and I am hoping to get to the California meet in Oct 2012, apart from that I have an open canvas to paint :-)

Thinking of heading over to Yellowstone park this weekend...

Would love to hear from people... anyone !!! even if you just want me to pop in for a coffee!
Feel free to PM if you like.
Oh Im riding a 2004 Yamaha TT600RE :-)

Cheers

Hi Geordie,

I am headed to California and then into Mexico along the coast road from Vancouver, Canada and will be passing through Tacoma this afternoon. Let me know if you want to meet up for that coffee or ride together for a while. I am on a 2012 KTM 690 Enduro.

in that area there is good riding to Mount St. Helen's, if you head to Yellowstone make sure you go up the beartooth pass just outside of red lodge montana and come in to the park from the north entrance

south from there into Utah you can't go to far wrong on any road, if just a case of heading south take route 89 all the way

if you need some gpx tracks let me know i can email them to you, i have set up tours in all the south western states that would take you on a big adventure loop

go on line to Campgrounds and Camping Reservations - ReserveAmerica, most of the state parks are now run by this private booking company, you can check availability online and also book before you head in any certain direction, once you are in their system it makes life easier to use once you check into the first campsite you are then in their system

labor day weekend you can almost guarantee all the national parks are full

its a little late but you could try the tent thread on advrider as well Trip Planning - ADVrider

Thanks again Paul for the links.

I have tried the tent space thread, was hoping to find somewhere to camp in Portland. Worse case I book a motel for a few days. Got to replace some bits and pieces...

Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
