Sick R1100S died just south of mazatlan- Storage in Mex?

So on my way back from Zipolite Oaxaca Mexico, my R1100S just died on me. It was riding great, then nothing. I managed to get it to a town (pushing) about 60 miles south of Mazatlan. Since Beemer parts are hard to find, I made my way back to the States and left the bike. I'm heading down to pick up the bike next week. I think that the issue was the hall effect sensor, which seems to be a common problem with early r1100.

I'm hoping to fix it, but if not, I was wondering if anybody knew any place where I could store the bike longer term (couple of months) if this is not the problem.

Any ideas would be a great help !

Hi Diter, you might want to try the Belmar hotel in old Mazatlan, it's got lots of space and the owner who normally lives in his Durango hotel visits frequently. He is also a biker, rides a BMW R1200GS and is kindly disposed to bikers traveling. Sorry I don't have the e-mail to hand but a google search should turn up something. Ride safe.

Another cause of such sudden death in the ignition of an R1100 could be caused by failure of the ignition timing pickup module on the front of the engine ( Mine died from this two years ago ,: not same as Hall thingy ??) . Getting the part replaced is a fairly simple procedure for any good mechanic - once he has a new part in hand.
