Smile Europe to Vladivostok and beyond

Hello,

From Netherlands Im heading east at the end of May, via Poland - Slovakia - Hungary - Romania - Bulgaria - Turkey then onto Iran, through Turkmenistan, Oezbekistan and perhaps Kirzigie, Kazakstan, Russia, back in Mongolia and then the final stretch to Vladivostok. From there I will decide to pop over to Japan or fly to Oz.

So if you heading the same route it would be cool to meet up and possible drive together for a while. Im pretty relaxed and have driven to Capetown before via the east coast. From over organising the first trip Im taking things a bit more easy going, the route is planned in term of countries but things-to-do im still investigating or will do on the road. In terms of visa's I will get Iran at home and apply the others while on the road, usually the country before.

Im driving a KTM 660 so if you wont see me, you will definitely hear me!!

For Gozell and whoever is going to Vlad!- I'd like to team up!

Hi Gozell,
I'm travelling from Italy to Vlad through Ukraine, Kaz, Uzbek, Kirgykistan, Russia, Mongolia and then russia again. Unfortunately, my travel companion left me alone and I'm undertaking the journey on my own! I'm leaving Italy between the 15th and the 20th of May and have planned to reach Kaz at the beginning of June. PLease let me know what your time-schedule is ...maybe we could do a piece of journey together!
Thanks
Luca

hey Luca

Hi Luca

How long are you planning to be on the road? How many visas did you organized in advanced? I am also on the road ....start first of june.
I had the target to cross from north to south of Africa...but alone is a little bit risky.

Mike

Hi Gozell

I am starting my trip more or less in beginning of june...I guess you will soon hit the road if you plan to be on the 4th on June in Istanbul....I guess, Iran Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, KZ, Russia, Mongolia, Russia....
Whats your plan on which date would you like to be in Vlad?
Did you got the multi entry visa for Russia? Or do you try to get them always in the country for the next one?

My target is to body up with someone, direction ...trough Africa or to Mongolia, I prefer Mongolia, mainly because i went several times to Africa, and never the the ...stan's. 1999-2000 I was traveling (bagpack) 18months most in the time in South America and Asia by my own. (never alone..you meet always someone) For Africa, i know many people in Africa. (i was working the last 6 years in East /south Africa. But for the east route, with the language barrier ... without a question, much more fun to travel with someone....and as usual with people from the netherlands always fun.
I am driving an bmw adventure. Not the best bike for off roads, but a cool bike.

Let me know you phone number and let's chat.

hello mike,

good to know you are heading the same way! i dont really have a tight planning to be in vladivostok, but guessing it will take 2-3 months to get there. about the visa part, i dont have anything arranged prior leaving (i do have a carnet do) but will work out a strategy before leaving (there are some great posts on this forum). im guessing that the embassies in turkye and much more geared for travellers going east, and most important its not a bad thing hanging in istanbul i reckon. for the onward countries, i will get them on the road like you mentioned usually the country before (works fine in afrika).

what are your plans after vlad?

grtz

i will try to give you a ring but its pretty hectic at the moment....

Hey Gozell

Sorry i missed your mail,

let's chat on the phone, if you have a phone number to call, send me a sms with the time and the phone number and i will call you.
My number is +41792618227

I have off from first of June till end of September. Everything else is open, my bike needs just to get the CAT off and the rest is fine. Tend, cooking staff and GPS is ready, need just to pack a couple of underwear and i am ready. My Carne is not ready but just a question of 1 week.

Let me say it in this way, I am very busy to clean up my business work to leave. But i have to be back end of September or i will loose my job. Anyway, I guess to send back the bike by train to Moscow or to send it back by ship or plane is just a question of $. Let me know your travel plan to Istanbul. I guess if i rush to Istanbul...what is a shame to rush ...nice region...anyway. We are talking about 2300Km, this can be done in 35h without stops or problems on the boarder. (Zurich, Vienna, Budapest, Beograd, Sofia, Istabul) .....plus minus on the 6/7/8 of June in Istanbul.

Regarding the route....the only thing what i don't like is to freeze my ass of.
just let me know what you think.

Let me know how you are prepared in regards to GPS or maps? I got the info that GPS is in some of the countries not real accepted.

Ok, let me know
thanks Mike
