Europe to SE Asia Feb 2006

Im kind of heading home to NZ, starting Feb. or March in Germany, spending a bit of time in S France, then Italy, Greek Islands, Turkey, Iran, etc. Should be on the KKH in May and want to spend Summer in Ladakh. Hopefully I'll make it all the way to East Timor before crossing OZ.

I intend to take my time wherever possible and meet local people.

I'm interested to meet up with other travellers on route, perhaps travel some time together.

Cheers,
Peter.

Have a great trip Pete & look us up for a beer when you get here.

Thanks, I sure will. But, I don't know how to put this without getting un-invited: I don't drink alcohol. Makes me ill...

Peter, how about instead of waving when we pass I'll buy you a bottle of water and let you know whats ahead of you :-) Sounds like we'll definately cross opposite paths somewhere round Malaysia or Thailand

It's a deal!

Moving to Auz soon and thought it might be nice to ride there, planes are sooo passe! Was gonna go Russia, Mongolia, China etc but have looked into it myself and read the fun and games people were having posted on here and decided that alternative arrangements must be made. Just been through a paper trail as long as *@?:{"£$%^ *&%$£$" to get an Auz visa so i can do without that. Anyway, i think you will leave a bit before me but if you are going the senic route! it might be good to hook up. I take it you are going to blag the china crossing to get onto the kkh? But i guess might as well try, nothing ventured nothing gained and all that jazz. I wouldnt mind knowing what route you intend though if thats ok. Anyway, Hello

Sorry Doc, I have to renege on the deal: I've just met a very interesting nice young biker lady and so have postponed my trip to give things a chance to develop. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Monica, no, I don't intend to go through China at this stage. My route is already in my original post. I think it's a pretty well-trodden path for bikers by now.

Well you know what they say about making assumptions! Sorry im not a chick and im not realy called monica, does this mean we cant be friends? I got long hair if thats any good? At least i can see you lot on here are a friendly bunch. So you might want to meet the Doc yet.

I had a look for your origional post with route, but there are a few!!! and couldnt find it. What do think is the best route at the moment?, which way are you going?

Take it easy, Mr Lewis B

The 'original post' is the first one in this thread.

Route - Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India (and most do Nepal).

The KKH, most people only do the bit in Pakistan due to the paperwork, cost of China.

I hope that clears things up? Humm this above sounds err .. critical - not meant that way just info. There is a book - umm Istanbul to Kathmandu - lonley planet .. about 2000. Bit out of date but is a good starting point. See if your local libaray has one.
