Europe, July and August 09

Hi, Im heading off round Europe in 3 weeks on my enfield bullet, no real plan, I'd like to get as far as the Ukraine, but other than that I'm open to suggestions. I'm on a very limited budget, so will be camping, couchsurfing and living on pasta! I don't ride that fast (loaded up enfield after all) and I'm more into waking up in forests and riding through mountains than going to tourist hotspots and getting mashed in nightclubs (despite being 25) Anyway, if your headed out in that direction, and fancy some company to swear at flat tyres and rainstorms with, Id love to hear from you!

Sakar Hills Camping, Bulgaria

Really think you should include Bulgaria in your trip. We are an English family that have a Caravan Park near the borders of Turkey and Greece. Have pitches for Motorcycles for 8 Euro a night.

Kind Regards

Similar trip planned

Hi Matt

im doing a similar trip end 28th july to the 16th Aug 09. Me and a mate are riding out to kiev, Odessa then back through Romania. if your out that way your welcome to join in.

here is a rough schedule

Ukraine ride out 09

I ride a suzuki Vstrom 1000 and i did Romania last year. There was so many spots i didnt get to see (draculas castle being one) so i thought id see them on the way back. I actually did a bit of couch surfing and roughing it but this year its cheap hostels.

If the dates dont fit just go on your own like i did last year i met so many people along the way.

anyway keep me posted on your plans

regards matt

Hi Mat

Just checked out your dates, I think your going to be moving way to fast for me, but, even though your setting off 20 days later than me, it looks like we might be crossing into the ukraine at the same time, and also going in roughly the same direction. Your predicted miles seem to drop off when you get there, are you thinking slower because of road conditions, or just as fast but with more sightseeing? I don't think my enfield and your vstrom are quite in the same bracket! Other than that though it'd be great to meet up.

Ben

yeah not quite a fair match

well the plan is to shoot across to Krakow and then take it easy as we go through the Ukraine and romania. I am taking it easy and going for more sight seeing than miles. yeah our paths could cross in ukraine somewhere

Hey Guys,
I'm gonna be in the same area around the same dates as well. Plan is to take the ferry from Odessa to Istanbul at the 10th of August.

I'll be riding a KTM 690 Enduro.

Fancy a somewhere along the road? Don't have more than this rough schedule at the moment and I'm not sure if I'll even get on the ferry, but then again, that's the fun part

See ya on the road!

europe tour

Hi Ben,

Have you got a date yet? Like a crossing booked? I am planning on hitting the continent this summer for a few weeks, I have a mate living in Sofia in Bulgaria and he's invited me down there at some point. I was planning on going down there, so maybe I could go with you some of the way?

I've got a driving test on the 15th July so wouldn't leave until then. If you're already over there, maybe I could catch you up?

Tom.

romania city of brasov and bulgaria

hi guys, its mike from brasov romania. sounds like your heading my way, have a house here so can offer you a bed, have all the bike tools paddock stands etc so you can give the bikers a once over, and have some washing done you will probabley need it by then.
can guide you to draculars castle only 20 mins away and take you to king carols palace its a must if you in the area. you said you wanted to go to constansa its become realy commercial and expensive, if you travel a futher 50kms youll find a village named vama veche right on the sea. you can camp on the beach or try one of the small cheap hotels. layed back place with cheap takeaway food and biker themed bar.
will send some p.m if you want further info on the best mountain roads avoiding the truck routes.
regards mike

Romania

Hey Mike,

Since I'm not very active on the HUBB yet, can't send you a private message but I hope you'll read this anyway!

I'm heading off to the Ukraine and Romania as well, in about three weeks time. Not much of a plan as of yet, so I was wondering if you could give me some info on what's nice to visit in the Great Unknown of Romania.

Maybe old castleruins, or the city of Odessa? And how's the riding in the Carpathians?

Cheers,
Joel
