Europe - India (and onwards to Aus!) October 2011?

Hi,
I've been saving for a while now to ride most or at least part of the way to New Zealand from Europe and should have the funds in place by October/November. Ideally I want to ride to Nepal from Europe (Turkey-Iran-Pakistan-India) then get the bike flown to Bangkok where I'll continue (roughly: Thailand - Malaysia - Indonesia - East Timor - Australia - New Zealand). However me doing the first leg of this (Turkey-India) would probably require me to find someone/some people to ride with (and for the weather in Eastern Turkey and Iran to be rideable at that time of year?). Otherwise I'd consider maybe just shipping the bike direct to Thailand from Europe and just doing that part. I wouldn't have any time restrictions once I've set off but would struggle to leave before the end of Oct this year.

So if there is anyone out there who wants to, or was already planning on heading India way from Europe at roughly that time of year and wouldn't mind some extra company for parts of the way I'd be keen to hear from you!!

opposite direction!

Christopher,

sorry I can't ride with you, but looks like we could cross path bier. I am planning on the reverse trip, from Nepal to Europe on the same route. Starting early October.

If you want to keep in touch I'll probably be throuh Pakistan by the time you leave if you need fresh infos...

Take care, ride safe,

Yannick

hi

ur plan sounds brilliant!

i was hoping to do something simular myself but have deceided to stop when i get to turkey. my plan was to catch the ferry across the black sea from istanbull and then a trans siberian train to moskow, then after spending a while ther another train to china...a long journey but thats what creates experiances.

have u ever considered doing this instead of flying your bike across asia?

maybe we could ride through europe together as far as istanbul?

TOM.

West to East or Otherwise

Morning Gents- ,

The plan sounds good, if you're interested in either trip-logs, waypoints etc, ping a PM back with an email address.

I did the Oz an Amsterdam ride last year and happy to pass what I learnt on, no probs !...

Cheers n ride safe !

Thanks for the offers/advice all!

Tom - Sounds like a good alternative, no doubt that would be a great experience in itself but I'm pretty determined to do this by bike this time and riding through China is probably not an option for me unfortunately due to costs of guides etc.

Yannick - That Pakistan info could be useful, I'll get in touch if I have any queries and good luck with your trip west!

In the mean time if there is anyone planning on heading the other way later this year please get in touch!

I would like to meet up with you on the way and share a bit of the journey together pm me and I will give you my email address and we can arrange things from there. So, I got the first quotes in, waiting for some others though. Flying from Germany to BKK from 4700 EUR(Lufthansa, without crate) 1475 EUR all incl, and by sea arround 400 (up to 60 days). But on Friday I go to the airport to check again. Starting mid October. SEA to NZ and AU

I seams there are a lot of people heading the same way at the same time. Funny isnt it? We could all meet up somewhere actually.

dont know if I can post our blog here, is it allowed? anyway its not fully ready ...

cheers, Sascha
