Europe August 2012

Hi! I had planned to go round Europe for 2 weeks after August 15th (mate is getting married on the 15th) this year. It would have been my first time on a European trip! Found it difficult finding anyone who could give up 2 weeks for a bike trip but a friend at work said they would go. Now we have got near, he has pulled out! Am gutted!!

Aug 16th or July 20th - Route was to go through France to Chamonix, through alps to Zermatt, past Lake Como and Milan to South of France then over the Milau bridge and then home. Was thinking of camping. 12days

July 20th - Different idea was to follow same route but jump on ferry in Barcelona and go to Majorca and spend 12 days with Family before riding back

Am considering doing it on my own but as it is my first time I am bit nervous!! Also would prefer company!!!

Would anyone be interested? Or does anyone know of a similar trip I could "cut my teeth" on? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Jon

Is it still on?

Hey Jon,

Is this trip still going ahead, as I had pretty much planned the same trip. I had provisionally planned to ride from london to Chamonix, in August, to meet 2 friends for a week Climbing in the alps. I was planning to take the open roads, and take in some scenery. I will endevour to get some confirmation from them about their plans, but I can see it not happening as I haven't heard anything yet. If you are still planning to go, and are still looking for a partner, let me know and we can get in contact. If this is the case, I would like, if possable, to meet for a ride before-hand.
my e-mail is: rich_lee_87@hotmail.co.uk.
Richard.

If you fancy a bit of company for your first trip abroad try the International Motorcyclists Tour Club (www.imtc.org.uk or facebook). It's too late to get anything together for this year but the club normally runs between 3 and 5 touring holidays each year, new members will get priority booking on the 2013 tours which will be announced in October or November.

Jon,
dates flexible?
I'm catching a ferry/eurotrain Sat 28th July heading France / Spain /Italy etc....back 11th /12th August. Camping all the way. Will be my 3rd time - I was a bit sweaty palmed 1st time, but honestly had a ball and all by myself, not speaking any other language much either. I am 100% going anyway, would welcome company all or part of trip. ( I too would like to see the Millau bridge! )

I've had a little bit of poo in my life in the last few week's. And have just come back from a month away in Europe. So all in all this is about the first time I have had any interest in getting back on the board's looking for the next trip.

That last map I posted. I've already done most of that. As like always people say they will go and then drop out. I'm not bad at the organising skill's in getting every thing off the ground. If I do that I need you to to be at a place at a time. If something is booked for a set time on a set day. You have to be there.

I have no idea why people go in July August time of the year. Hight of the season. Too hot for me. And every thing is top dollar price's. May or September is hot enough. Start or end of season, makes the cost lower.

Looking at two week or more at Spain. a few mile's up the coast from Barcelona. Stay at a complex as a base and ride round Spain. Take a few days out by the pool and seeing what's in town. You can't ride every day for two week's.

I'm heading south from London on 23rd via Paris

Hi
I'm heading south from London on 23rd via Paris, then south east to Italian border. I do know some good roads but no idea where to camp en-route.
Might be a bit late for you perhaps.
