Eastern Europe tour May 2011

Im planning on a 4 week tour through all eastern european countries around mid may 2011. Im looking for a easy going and very spontaneus caracter who wants to tag along.
Im a Swedish guy of 28 springs whos spent the last 10 years travelling and teaching people scuba diving. In sweden i run a small windowcleaning bussiness and teach tourists wakeboarding. I recently started to get my eyes on travel by MC. I speak flewin ( reservations to missspellings) English, German, Spanish and hopefully Swedish. so languages shouldnt be a barrier in our journey together.

Now to the trip:

We can still plan everything together but roughly ill be arriving in Poland by ferry. then of towards Prague-Slovakia-Hungary-Slovenia-Croatia-Bosnia-Serbia-Montenegro-Kosovo-Albania-Macedonia-Bulgaria-Romania-Ukraine-Belarus. if time also the Baltics but could be to tight.

Im planning to ride a KTM 990 or Africa Twin. some offroad is possible but any kind of bike can join in.

Hope to see you along.

Going where you have in mind. It's the hook up that could be the problem or the time scale.

Hey Monsler,

I'm planning on riding from Frankfurt to Istanbul beginning on May 11 and arriving June 8th. Afterwards I will continue on to Central Asia. I will be riding through many of the areas you mentioned but taking a somewhat different route. I'd love to join up with you and your future riding partner(s) for a week or so if we are in the same area, but probably won't be able make it for the whole ride.

About me: I am an American college student studying Chemical Engineering in Rochester, NY (don't worry I'm not a dork). Last year was spent living and traveling in South America, and a good portion of it was by motorcycle. Although I'm younger than most riders (20), I'm very old for my age and last year travelled extensively with others mainly in their late 20's, 30's and even 40's, (almost exclusively from Germany, Holland, and Scandinavia actually) getting along very well. I'm more adventurous than most and prefer truly "off the beaten track" places and legitimate experiences with locals. I'm not a fan of being a tourist. I'm also not reckless :mchappy:

Let me know how your plans come along and maybe we can coordinate something,

Oh and I ride a KLR 650, 2008 :thumbup1:

ride company

Hi, I'm also aiming to ride from the UK in the direction of Mongolia, leaving spring 2011. I hope to ride as much "non tarmac" as possible and stay away from cities. Camping and cooking most nights, cheep hotels as and when. I don't expect massive miles per day and I'm riding a BMW G650X probably shone with Michelin Deserts. I hope to meet other bikers along the way and any ride company for any sections of the trip greatly welcome.

Hi wardj91, I cant email reply yet as I'm still to new a member. Yes, I'm also thinking about south of the Black Sea via Istanbul. I will probably leave a bit earlier than you, beginning of April, but may well hang around Romania a bit. I hope to have my route and a rough time frame organized by the end of January early February. If I pass through this area to soon there will be other opportunities to meet further down the road.

rich g650x, sounds good. Let me know when you've got a rough schedule together and we'll see. As I've told istanbul bisiklet motosiklet I'll be arriving in Istanbul around June 6 or so and leaving on the 13th. I'm gonna ferry to Sochi around the 30th most likely, spending July in central asia. I realize this may be well after you've passed through the area but keep in touch and let me know :thumbup1:

Hi Guys,

I'm planning a trip to Aral sea and back, starting mid of May. Rough idea is to leave Istanbul beginning of June, arrive at Aral end of June and to be back home around July 20. Planned countries are Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazachstan-Russia-Ukraine-Moldova-Romania-Slovakia-Poland. My girl friend will join the trip to Istanbul. How about your schedules right now?

Regards, Chilli

Current Plan

Hi Chilli,

My plan hasn't changed much since my last post- leaving Frankfurt May 12th or so, arrive in Istanbul June 6th and leave the 13th. Ferry to Sochi, Russia around June 30th, enter Kazakhstan about 8 days later and spend July in central asia. Then I will return to Germany via Russia and the Ukraine, hopefully arriving back around August 25th.

It seems that you're taking a bit of a different route, but perhaps a meeting around Uzbekistan might be possible if not in Turkey?

Jake
