Eastern Europe August 2013

Taking off work a year and going riding, planning3-4 months riding western Europe from August till get gets too damn cold then going to southeast Asia and then who knows. Have motorcycled camped in USA as that is where I am from but never in Europe. Want to see scenic roads and stop for history. Any suggestions are appreciated or people interested.

Your title suggests 'eastern Europe', but in your post you talk only of 'western Europe', which one is it, or are you doing both?

Give us a bit more information would be useful, such as;
  • List of countries you may be thinking of wanting to ride through?
  • What style of riding do you prefer, on-road or off, both?
  • What bike is it you will take to Europe?
  • Camping, couchsurfing, hotels or resorts?
I worked out you are probably in USA, that is about all.

there is lots of general information about what to do and see on this site and many others, so you might find that you'll get more helpful responses if you do some initial research and then come back with more information about what you are looking to do, and/or more specific questions.

Southern western Europe is only two country's or may be three. The main two are Spain and Portugal, And may be the south of France. In August it's as hot as hell, well in to September. Being the high part of the season, it's going to be a bit more expensive.

As to what to see when I'm there. To see only half of it would take about half a life time. It would be the same for me asking what to see in three month in the US. If I was you. I would bring a lap top. You can get free inter-net contention at most Mc Donald. And look at this place to see if you can hook up with some one who is also traveling. That way you will get a free guide and some good advice.

Hope that helps.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
