DUBlin to DUBrovnik via the rest of Europe

I'm taking a few months off work and plan to travel around Europe in a relaxed pace. Leaving Dublin in Mid-April heading to France, Spain, Italy, Corsica, The Alps, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia, if I have enough time.

There is no tight schedule and if I don't get to all the places on the list - that's fine too. I want to do some sightseeing, canoeing and general holidaying on this trip and am not intending to be in the saddle for the whole day. There will also be some resting days - it's a holiday after all :D

If you are heading in the same direction and want to meet up along the way or join in for parts of the trip - looking forward to meeting you :welcome:

PS: Accommodation will be a mixture of camping and budget hotel accommodation.

Oh, and tips on must-dos and must sees along the way are always welcome!

Cheers

Emily

I'm going to be leaving the UK in April visiting friends in Belgium and then Germany. I need to travel at this time but it seems that April is a bad time for everyone else, if you want to hook up at some point let let us know or send a pm.

Great. That's a lot of responses. Thanks :biggrin3:

Would be great to meet up with you for a chat or a drink at some stage.

Just booked the boat and leaving on 16th April from Rosslare. Rough plan for the first few weeks goes like this:
- Normandy Landings
- Brittany
- Loire Valley
- Dordogne
- Gorges (Tran, Ardeche, Verde)
- Pyrinees
- Galicia
- Portugal
- Algarve
- Andalucia
- Med Coast
- Corsica
Anybody any suggestions of things to see or do? Any particular roads that I shouldn't miss?

Cheers,

Emi

Giz a shout if you are around Hungary. I can arrange some camping at parents/friends there. I might even go out for a ride if I am there... but I can't see how I will leave Andalucia and go north just yet :)

Hi ,

I too am based in Dublin and am planning on either Morocco or Syria/Jordan. Thanks to FF I do not have a time limit. I will be riding out from PAU (FR) and I am planning on departing sometime in April from there.

PM me if you want to meet up. I will be organising a HU rideout for fellow East Coasters when I get my bike back on the road.

Wheeee!

Thanks very much for that kind offer. Would be great to meet up. You might still be in Andalucia when I arrive there :biggrin3:

Can you recommend things to see and do in Hungary? Was there as a young wan with my folks and stayed in Eger (twice) and loved it. The day we went to Budapest was incredibly hot :(

I'll keep my eye on this as we will be in Hungary in June. Could just be an over night stop. It's all to do with time. And where about in Hungary is this place?

Museums and art galleries are excellent in Budapest if you are into that kinda thing... or you can check out some of our pubs and clubs. :) There is Lake Balaton, a shallow 72km long lake with a lot of parties and stuff. To learn a bit about our history, you can go to Opusztaszer... I can highly recommend it if you are not in a hurry.
Riding is pretty boring there as the whole country is flat, you find some nice twisties up in Slovakia.

Hi Emily

This is exactly the trip I fancy doing, but a little later in the year as I know Europe can throw up some surprises with its weather!

I've travelled through Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, France and back up on the ferry from Spain. It's an awesome trip!

However, this year I'm planning to do something similar, but looking for a buddy to do it with!

How long are you planning to be away for?

Kay

If I'm not in a hurry means, if I have time to learn Hungarian? :innocent: The link to the English version is not working. Nevermind Wikipedia knows loads.
