Crossed into Panama today
 

I crossed the border from Costa Rica into Panama today, should make Panama city tomorrow (Sunday) and will start organizing my bike´s shipment to Panama on Monday. Anyone else around?

i will be in panama city from october 5 to 15--without motorcycle this time.
since i am a fellow edmontonian, let me know if you're still around during that time frame and we can share stories over a beer.

hi, eric from edmonton, should be in panama in 3 or 4 days, and will be flying my bike via girag, on the 7th or 8th, and then it is on to columbia, maybe we can meet up?

My bike went out by Girag today to Bogota, I go tomorrow (Sept 30). Keep in touch, I will be in Ibarra Ecuador for a couple of weeks, you may catch up with me there.

UP front I will apologize for all the questions to follow.

I will be in Panama the end of December and also shipping my bike to Colombia. I'm curious if you considered the DHL or Copa options I have read about and still picked Girag? Could you share why please? Also, I've read Girag ships bikes Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday only, it's not nec. to crate it beforehand, you just drop it off, and it's $901 complete.

Any knowledge about Copa only shipping on Fridays?

Also. who are you flying with to Bogota, how much, and does it make a $$ difference to buy your ticket early?

Sorry for all the questions but you seem to be the most recent one crossing and I'm counting my pennies.

hi, after reading lots of other posts, i think it is way above average that giarg is the drop deap simplest way to go, unless you take the sialboat, which i was to do, but the dates did not work for me, i will take the time to do a complete update after i have shipped the bike, as i plan on hanging around cartehgeba and bogatoa for maybe 5 days or so

I chose Girag as there was another group o bikes going out and they coud do it sooner than copa $901 to ship the bike $348 or me on copa

I didn't shop too much conenience rues or me girag asked no questions - eg how much ue in tank contents o hard bags etc I just had to remoe my mirrors and windscreen (too high)

We are in Costa Rica today the 1st of Oct and planning to be in Panama City Sunday night. I will be flying my bike to Bogota as quickly as possible, maybe same day as you. I will be solo at that point,moving quickly through Colombia, Equador and northern Peru to pick up my daughter at the Lima airport on the 22nd. I have tried unsuccessfully to get onto your email list for guys en route several times. Don't know what the problem is.

I stayed at the same hotel as your friend Bruce just south of Brownsville, my first night in Mexico. We had flies and a little pollo for dinner, oh and don't forget the lukewarm beers.

I'm right behind you. Hope to fly out of Panama on the 5th, 6th or so.

For you other guys, Copa no longer ships bikes. This absolute current info as of Oct 1. I received 3 emails from them today. They are not an option.

hi, i will be at the giarg at 8 am monday to ship my bike and will be on the 11:58 flight with copa to bogata, will then spend a few days in bogata, then probally head north to cartegena, and then sought from there, i am at the hotel califorina (no joke) and if you are around the area, leave me a note, via espana, you can also try to e mail me but who knows if i will get it or not, anyway e mial me for bogata, neve rthe less.

Hi Eric,

I am in Panama now, some of us here are trying to put together a container to send the bikes and 1 car over to Categena. They say the container gets to Cartegena in 24 hours. If that doesn't work out, my bike will fly out Tuesday,tomorrow on Girag $905 (ouch!!!). I am booked on a flight to Bogata right now for Wednesday AM if I fly the bike.
