Company for Pakistan to Iran

Hi,

we (Caroline and Ralf, two Honda Transalps) are in India at the moment and plan to travel through Pakistan to Iran (and further on to Turkey ...) around end of April.

We want to do the Pakistan section basically "straight through" and do the sightseeing another (better) time.

Anyone interessted in company ? Would be nice to be a bigger group.

See you,
Ralf and Caroline
(Germany)

Hello
Coming from the other direction:
Iran-Pakistan-India.
Maybe we could meet on the cross over
and exchange tips? When would pass through
Pakistan?

Will depart Iran in 10 days or so.
traveling solo on a BMW 1150 GSA,
Dutch plate.

Hi
Other direction too i'm afraid, but after the other two. I'm in turkey at the moment and am hoping to be at the Iran border in a weeks time. I have a thirty day visa but will probably get through Iran and Pakistan quite quickly.
Sure we'll bump into each other at some point. I'd be really interested on any information you could pass on, on India and Pakistan
Paul

Hello everyone,

yes, let's stay in touch via the HUBB and try to meet somewhere on route and exchange some stories.

Oeyvind (28) from Norway, for the time being studying Urdu in Lahore, would like to join you through the Baluchistan-desert. End of April sounds good. I'll be driving an Enfield Bullet. Hope to hear from you!

I broke my leg in Quetta and am out of the game. But I met with jason there and was on his way to Multan.

Safe trips and take care.

DAMN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello "usl",
I just read that you broke your leg in
Quetta !!! If you will be tranferred to Islamabad for further treatment, we know the BEST surgeon
you will find : Dr. Aly Khokhar (orthopedic and trauma surgeon). Here are his coordinates : he
works at the "Ali Medical Centre" / Main Markaz F8 / Islamabad
This is his phone at the hospital : 051 255.313 (but it's hard to find someone at the reception
speaking English) / his phone at home : 051 227.51.17 / his mobile : 0300 854.51.17
Tell him you got his coordinates from us. He's very friendly, knows his job very very well, has
studied 10 years in England, etc. etc. He did a very good job on my leg in 1999 and we visited him
again last year.

We travelled from Belgium to India overland in 1999, and I broke my leg then in Pakistan too. If
you're bored, you can read the entire story on our website (see below).
Doctor Khokhar treated me then and we stayed for 2 weeks in Ali Medical Centre, after which we
were flown home, and the bikes shipped. As our project was unfinished, we re-travelled last year
to India and back, and all was fine.

If you're bored, or you want to "talk" to a complete stranger, go ahead. I know what it is like,
and I was SO very very lucky to have my friend with me to handle all the practical bits...

Wish you all THE BEST.
Kind regards from Trui

Hello USL and the others,

sorry to hear about your accident. Hope everything will be better soon. If you need any help, we will (hopefully) be in Quetta in about a week or so.

We are in Amritsar now and will cross the border to Lahore tomorrow. We will meet with Oeyvind and probably travel together through Pakistan to Iran. Hope to meet someone on the way.

What's the road Lahore-Multan-DG Khan-Loralai-Quetta-Dalbandin-Taftan like at the moment ? Any suggestions ?

See you,
Ralf and Caroline

iris_trui 6 May 2003 04:50

Hello Ralf and Caroline,
we posted a mail on this stretch on http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000163.html

As for Lahore to Multan : it's a good tarmac road, two lanes, and you'll make good progress. Traffic is annoying always, but there's less of it then in India.
Contrary to "usl" we found the Quetta to Taftan quite reasonable to even good (see our post above).

Enjoy Pakistan and say hello to "usl" in hospital in Quetta from us. Hope he's fine.
Safe travels,
Trui
