Morocco May 2012

Hi!

I'm just about to start planning a trip to Morocco in May, I'm fairly flexible at this point on the exact dates.

I've been riding a couple of years and did a solo trip from London to the bottom of Spain and back up again last year. This time though I thought it might be nice to try and ride with someone else. None of my mates are up for the adventure so I thought I might try this site to see if anyone would like to come?

I'm 29, from London and work in the film industry. I'm easy going about who I travel with.

My current plan is to take the Ferry from Portsmouth to Santander, ride down through Spain, ferry across to Morocco. Spend a week in Morocco trying to see the edge of the Sahara and then back up again. I have 2 weeks, but might be able to squeeze a couple of extra days in if need be.

I ride a Suzuki V Strom, I'm not the most experienced off road so won't be going too crazy with the hard pistes. I'm up for taking it as it comes though and will certainly have a go at whatever comes up. Hopefully I'll squeeze in a bit of camping along the way too.

Let me know if this sounds like your cup of tea and we can get the ball rolling!

- J

Hi Mr James,
Wish i'd seen this post a couple of weeks ago, i wanted to do the same on my bike, but none of my riding buddies were up for it, so booked with a 4 x 4 team and now going in our Landcruiser.
Starting out in April for a couple of weeks or so.
Anyway, have fun and stay safe
Tim.

HI J

I am travelling the same route. I am travelling from Ireland on 21st April, getting the boat to Santander on the 22nd and will probably get a boat to Morocco a couple of days later. I will be leaving Morocco at the end of April as my boat back to UK leave Spain on 2/5/12. May be able to travel for a day or two with you if you want

Hi Mr James
I'm looking at travelling to Morocco too, but I cant leave until late May. I can't change my dates (rostered leave) but if yours are flexible, we could travel down together. I have 18 days in which to do the trip, but no off-roading or camping for me!

Garry.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

phazael: Looks like we might be in Morocco at the same time, I'll send you a PM closer to the time and maybe we can meet up for a little ride or a

Elliott Ness: I think April might be a bit early for me, hope you have a great trip though!

MedMan: I think Late May could work for me, I have a bit of flexibility with my work, what dates did you have in mind? Would you want to share a cabin on the boat to save some cash? No worries about the camping or offroad stuff, I could just go do my own thing for a couple of days to get my adventure fix

Hi J:

Thanks for the response. Planning to leave UK on April 22 via Newhaven to Dieppe. Then I will take Saint Nazaire to Gijon ferry and then spend 2 or 3 days heading for the coast. l will probably enter Morocco via Ceuta.

Look forward to that .

Regards

Peter

I can't leave until 24th May and have to be back for work on 9th June.
Sharing a cabin isn't a problem - I'm all for saving cash!
Just a few loose ends to tie up before I commit to the trip, but it's 99% certain that I will be going.

Garry.

Hi Folks, if anyone wants to meet up for a brew while in Morocco from now till the end of April, let me know, I'm wandering around the more southern parts right now as it's warmer, and will be heading north when it (and me!) thaw out. I'm in a slow 4x4, but happy to plod along and catch up at camping time. I'm good at carrying stuff too :-)

The Atlas Mountains

Hi
I'm thinking of a trip to Morocco around May .Retired so dates are unimportant.
Camping is great mixed with B&B TYPE ACCOMADATION.I ride a KTM 990.and am a retired ships navigater.63 years of age with a 19 years of age brain.Love travelling, love camping and most of all love motorcycling.Hill walking, sailing and kayaking too..And a good pint of guinness with a large jamison(I'm Irish)

I would be quite happy to meet up in Portsmouth and head for the Atlas mountains at whatever pace you like.

My email is samuelstarr@aol.com
