China - Laos to Mongolia: April 2014

Hi all,

We are on the search fro travelling buddies / cost sharers for a trip through China in spring time 2014.

We are currently in SE Asia after having made our outbound journey from Europe over the last few months.

Since we have a camper van, we are looking for other 4x4s / campers, since we have to use the main highways (and motorcycles are not permitted on them).

We have a preferred guide, who we used for the outbound journey - we will get some other quotes, but if there is nothing in it we would prefer to stick with what we know. If you are at all interested then please PM or reply here, and I can send you our proposed Itinerary along with the anticipated cost breakdown.

Happy Travels,

Vaughan

Can you help ?

Hi Vaughan,

Can you help ?

We are about to follow you on a similar trip from the UK through China in to Laos then Cambodia finishing up at our home in Thailand. We are starting out mid March 2014 and arriving in Thailand about August time, so we are unable to travel with you, however, I see that you must have had your camper in SEA for sometime and now going to keep it there for a long time,we are wondering about two things, firstly did you use or need a Carnet and if so in which country's and secondly how did you or how will you go on leaving your vehicle for any length in a single country until 2014, I am lead to believe that in Thailand they will only let you keep your vehicle there for a max of 3 months and I would like to leave it say 9 months in South East Asia so we could then travel back the year after.
We are in Thailand at the moment while our truck/van is being converted by a company back in the UK, so if there is anything else that you could advise us on it would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you do not mind me trying to pick you brains but it would help us a great deal

Kind regards

Dave

PS If you would like PM me that would be great thanks again.

UK to Oz -outbound spring 2014

Hi Vaughan,

We too are looking for champanions for a China - Laos link for spring 2014. We are a landrover outbound from the UK to Oz with a scheduled UK departure for mid-May 2014. We have a priliminary quote for a guide through China but happy to consider options.

Our time scale is limited (4 - 5 months all in) so looking for approximately a 3 - 4 week China leg. Any good?

Happy to discuss - but fair warning, it's my first time on the forum so a rookie at the process (oh, and don't know what PM means:). All advise welcome.

Hello Ray

Some forum insight - pm means private message.

Alas it seem you are going in the wrong direction for us. There is another thread on here with a couple of campers going north to South, so perhaps you can work something out with them

Good luck

Vaughan.

Yes, 'going forward'

We are indeed still going, though I am not sure how useful it would be to you to join our party if you would be starting from Beijing. I can send you our proposed itinerary if it would be interesting to you

Cheers

Vaughan

Hi Vaughan,

We are also looking for others to share the costs of China. We drive a Landcruiser and are planning to go from Laos to Mongolia in May 2014. We planned a route but nothing is definite yet. So seems worthwhile to see if we could combine our trips.

Cheers,
Coen & Marijke

Europe to Oz

HI Guys Not sure if we can help but we are looking for travelling partners to share costs across China. We are thinking either Kazakhstan or Mongolia to Laos starting July or August 2014. Regards Lisa
