Chile/Argentina Jan-Feb Seeking Riding Partner

Update: Dec 31st

Hi. Flying into Santiago jan 31st and purchasing 250-650cc dual sport. Flying back on march 6th. Tentative plan is to head down to tierra del fuego and back up to Santiago or as far as I make it. Hope to do some dirt if possible. Looking for someone laid back and friendly to ride down with. My only set plan is when I arrive and when I depart and all else is open. Me: I'm 27 and love to ride and learn about local culture. I've traveled extensively throughout Southeast asia on dual sports including Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. I speak fluent Spanish which I think will allow me to get much more out of this trip. Anyway, I had great luck riding with a partner in SEA and figured I'd try to find another for this trip. Email me if interested. robd19@hotmail.com

Safe Riding,
Rob

Traveling South

I am currently in San Jose, Costa rica. I went as far south as Colon Panama where my riding partners went for boats in Mirimar farther south. I was not comfortable with this mode of transportation so I returned to Costa Rica. I do not speak Spanish thus traveling into South America did not seem practical. I am entering a Spanish school and plan to stay 2 months. Upon completion I will again travel south. from Panama to Bogata then to TDF.
Keep me posted on your plans perhaps we can link up.

Well Cyrusa

 RE: im 27 also so yoiu dont have to worry about any slow old guys:oops2:

Have you considered that it may not be impossible that some 'old guys' out there may not be as slow as you may think, could even teach you a few tricks and be good company too?:thumbup1: Please don't discard us out of hand!

....Ageism.......still out there......:rolleyes2: ...

50 glorious years and still kicking:thumbup1:

i scientifically roll guessing the mean. relatively speaking, as a general rule old guys are slow. this said, i have had my butt handed to me by óld´guys in everything from hare scrambles and motorcross. no need to take offense, it is a natural cycle. i aspire to rip along well into my years and recognize that young, strong riders will continue with greater endurance and stamina.

OLD guys

There are a few of us old guys you young pups could well learn from as many of us were riding when the bike did not do half the riding for you.
If you are in Argentina in January you would do well to watch for Old Jack from Ok. I would put my money on his 65 years against most of the rider want to be's I seen in my travels.
Remember it is the finishers in the race that can brag not the ones who have not started the race.

Didn't mean to start a controversy!!

Happy new year to you guys. Just finalized my plans and am flying in on the 31st of january. Figuring that it should take 3-4 days to purchase bike and sort out all the paperwork. Hopefully we can meet up. Shoot me an email if any of you will be around santiago and we can ride down together. Take care and good luck.

Also in Argentina in Feb

Hey guys, this is my first post as I have recently found this website. I do not know if I Qualify for "OLD or "young" at 40 yrs old, but I still race for what that's worth.
Anyway, My 'plan' is to fly to Brazil mid january with my girl, and spend 3 weeks there as a tourist/surfer. on eb 8th she flies back to Milwaukee, and strart my solo tour, likely in Argentina as my spanish is far better than my Portugese.
I intend to arrange a motorcycle for those next 4 weeks, but am not yet sure how to do it, so any info would be great.

Last winter I did this same 3 weeks with girl then 4 weeks solo on motorcycle in South Africa, but thre I had a free R 1100GS available, so I am unsure about how the paperwork would work out in S America.
I intend to try to find a biggerdual sport,(XR, DR, KLR) or perhaps a Transalp ( my usual Mexico bike) or some trailie. So any info you've got would be greatly helpful , and Say Hi to the Teton Pass for me
Do they all still meet at The Stagecoach in Wilson on Sunday evenings? It's been a lot of yrs.

Perhaps we'll meet South of the Equator.
