Capetown 2 Europe ... Dec02+

My R1100GS arrives in Capetown Dec 18th for the continuation of a 3yr RTW.

Will be riding up through RSA, Namibia, Bots, Zim (fuel?), Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Ethiopia, ... and then doing some head scratching to figure route to Europe.

Interested in meeting people along the way. Especially after Kenya. Most traffic seems to go south, who else is out there going north?

This is not an answer on your question, but:

I have crossed Africa from north to south and back north again. When you travel North you meet a lot of people going south and that makes it easy to get information

Good luck!

Hi, we are in Khartoum right now heading south through Ethiopia and Kenya etc in the next few days, Sudan seems prety straight forward to get a visa for in either direction, we have met Dutch,German and English travellers who have come here from Ethiopia with no problems, visas issued in Addis in a couple of days, ours issued in Cairo in one day. Putting a bike on the ferry going north from Wadi Halfa to Aswan should present no trouble either or you may be lucky and get a Saudi transit visa and go from Port Sudan but you would miss a great desert trip in the north of Sudan, people here are fantastic, paper work is a doddle as well, just go to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and they will sort it all out free of charge. Let us know how you get on for the South, especially Zambia and Zimbabwe as we are "planning " on going that way. Regards Chris and Gill, BMW R80G/S
