i am doing this next year

i have to work out my logistics with my bike as yet ,i need to get it from south america to cape town ,without me this year ,as i have to go back to australia to work for our summer,i may leave it in south america ,and then fly in do some more riding here and then ship it and me to cape town, does that all sound confusing enough ,either way i will be in cape town in june 2008

Capetown to Europe too

I have done some biking in South Africa and Lesotho lately with rented beemer from Capetown, but wanting to do extended trip with my own bike, an R100 GS. Summer 2008 looks like it could work for me. Might do some riding in South America before that, and possibly even ship my bike to Capetown from Brazil or Argentina.
The timetable you are looking at, winter in South Africa, is a good time to go I think..stay out of the high passes where the snow can fly. Late winter toward spring September might be better. I was planning on going up as far as Uganda (been there a couple times but not by bike yet) and either backtracking a bit and heading over to Angola and Namibia and back to South Africa..a kind of circle taking in the east and the west...or possibly putting my bike on a plane in Uganda/Kenya and flying it over to Cameroon or maybe Ghana and continue north from there...if it appears missing Congo is recommended at the time. I rode solo in South Africa and Lesotho no problems and had great time but on an extended trip through Africa really need a partner.

Cape Town to UK - leaving soon!

We have traveled down east side of Africa in 4 x 4 and have now decided to return by road up west side. It appears that most people travel down rather than up that route. Would like to contact someone who has traveled this way to ask some questions.

Thanks Jeff,

We have already checked your website for details! The prospect of the Cameroon in November looks daunting! Any advice on places to avoid, because we are probably doing an (almost) reverse of your trip. Did you meet anyone traveling clockwise? Where are you two going next??

Carol
