camping in peru

I'll be entering Peru from Ecuador this week. Are there any campers out there? If you're on a bike and need stuff hauled to GO camping somewhere wonderful, I'm in a van and can carry stuff.

Peru Next Week

Loraine:

We will be in Lima next week to pick up our motorcycle and head into the mts. We arrive late Tuesday night and will probably stay a few days as we need to get our bike out of customs. From there we head to Cusco and then through Boliva and down to Ushuaia. If you are in the area of Lima next week let me know. I will contact Bob in Arequipa also.

Hi Lorraine, We crossed at Macara five days ago just behind the Globebusters motorcycle tour group. An excellent easy crossing.
Hightailed it down into the fog to lambeyque {Sipan Gold museum}then onto huanchca north of trujillo{Chan Chan ruins}. Finally left the coastal fog on a Awesome road from Santo{just north of Chimbote} to Caraz. This road is signposted for Huanllanca and is a gravel road that climbs to 2000meters through many rock tunnels into the cordellera blanca. From the town of yungay you can access the Llanganuca lagunas in Hauscaran park with unbelievable camping at the end of the second lake{29kms gravel road}.
We are leaving Huaraz {another gem} tommorow for the long trip down to the coast past Lima to Nazca and then up to Cusco.
Hope to see you on the road.
Cheers, Peter and Carol

Hello! I'm new to the forum and I don't want to change this thread :offtopic: but I am in desperate need of information.:helpsmilie:

ok I'll stop with the smilies...

Right now I live Quito and I own a Vespa that I bought here. I have Ecuadorian Plates and Ecuadorian Matriculado that is valid until 2009. I am moving out of Quito and Ecuador all together (hopefully within the next week!) and I want to take my Vespa with me. I'll be traveling south into Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina. Does anyone have information on the paperwork/fees that I will need to have ready for the border crossings? I really am clueless to what I need. Thank you so much for your help.

Fatrob,

my understanding is you don't need much. (International) License, title document, passport.

For more info do a search under "trip paperwork" here:

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/trip-paperwork/

Good luck.

Jeff
