Cairo to Europe (through Jordan/Syria/Turkey) - looking for co-driver

Hi!

My friend and I are finishing our Cape to Cairo trip at the end of October.

Unfortunately my friend is flying back home so I have an empty seat in my truck (Land Cruiser Troop Carrier) for the rest of the journey to Europe.

If someone is interested, the proposed route is the classic one through Jordan/Syria/Turkey/Greece/Italy/France. I am looking for someone to share fuel costs and other associated expenses (rferry/oad permits/border insurance) - should not be much. The truck needs nothing.

Thanks!

Christian

Hi, it sounds great. But I can´t go with you. My religion only allows me to ride motorcycles. Anyway, I did the same trip but in the other way, so if you need any advice or help, do not hesitate in asking.

Take your time in Jordan and enjoy Turkey. If I were you I will also visit Jerusalem. If you do that, ask for the stamp out of the passport (in both sides, Israel and Jordan). In case of trouble in Syria for being in Israel, you can take a ferry from Haifa to Cyprus and another one to Turkey.

I rode from Istambul to Antakia (Cappadocia is worth to visit), but I also rode the Turkey mediterranean shore from Antalya to Cesme and then Chios (greek island) and then Pireus. Both ways in Turkey are great, but I prefer the shore one.

Enjoy that part of your trip. Is really beautiful and people are nice.

Sorry, this is not the original pourpose of the post, but you asked. Anyway, a lot of information can be obtained in the regional forums.

International Driver Licence will work. I did it with a fake one because the Ukranian cops tore mine. That piece of bulls..t worked all the way in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Acerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. I was able even to go into Israel with a fake driver licence wrote by my own hand. The whole story is in my blog Marenostrum trip

Carne du passage helps always and is required in Egypt. No carne, no Egypt.

African Insurance for most countries is called Yellow card. I got mine in Kenya but I guess you can get yours in South Africa. The European Green Card works in Turkey and Israel and South Cyprus but not in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria or North Cyprus, but you can get temporary insurance at the border (you will be ripped off).
