Cabo San Lucas

Thinking about riding to Cabo from Northern California in early January. Probably leaving on the 1st if I go. Has anyone done this trip? Advice on where to stay etc... I probably won't do a lot of sight seeing just burning down there and back.

I am heading to Mexico mid Jan from Vancouver. How much time do you have to travel?

I am hoping to do all of Mexico in a month or so.

I'm planning on leaving early January possibly even late December. Depends on vacation time I get from work. I was going to take approximately two weeks.

Might be leaving Christmas day from Vancouver with bike on back of truck. 2 days to LA or San Diego. Not sure where I will dump my truck yet.

Right on!!! I decided I'm leaving the day after Christmas with one day down to San Diego area. I plan on camping when not staying in hotels. However if we're both going to be down there maybe we can split the cost of hotels. Pending we meet up and agree with each others company. I know we're not suppose to exchange email on here so how do we exchange contact info?

Although skipping Cabo, I will be down there from 12/17 or 18 - 1/3. Most of my time will be spent in the south end and I'll be camping/moteling.

Thanks Grant, I was in a hurry and on my way out the door. I figured it out shortly after I signed off. Have a good New Year. I know I will.

When you get down here to Cabo San Lucas, be sure to get in touch. I live down here now. I rode down Baja last year and it's an awesome ride. The best part is camping on the beach.
There is just one paved road coming down (higway 1), but many sidetrips on dirt roads. Those are really what Baja is all about (and the Sea of Cortez).
Here in Cabo San Lucas, it's quite expensive, though campgrounds should be ok. San Jose del Cabo has more charm than Cabo San Lucas, so be sure to check it out.
And if you have a chance, ride on the dirt road along the East Cape for the scenery and some excellent beaches (where camping is free, btw).
If you spot me, I ride a red BMW F650 GS with Touratech side cases. You can call me down here on my cell phone (044-624-1091278).

I really appreciate that. I knew if I just decided I was going I'd meet people along the way. I plan on being down there on Dec 30th. I'll most likely give you a call.

Seattle to Cabo S.L. in Feb 2005. Put your bike in the back of the pickup with mine. Truck them to San Diego, ditch the truck and ride the Baja peninsula.

Last Call. I'm crossing the border on the 27th and plan to be in Cabo on the 30th. I'm riding a yellow and black GS1150 Adventure with aeroflow screen and BMW boxes. Hope I see someone on the road. Happy Holidays.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
