Buenos Aries-TDF-Alaska-Boston-Ireland-Italy-Libia-South Africa-Australia

Hi Guys,
I'm planning a ride leaving Buenos Aries March 2010. Hopefully spending 10 months on the road. I know it's early but is there anyone else planing something similar, everyone seems to ride the America's north to south. If so let me know, it's always good to meet new people on the road to nowhere.

10 months to do that kind of distance is going to be a bit of a rush, we took 11 months from Argentina to Alaska and back down to Vancouver.

What can I say,
I like to ride

MikeS 5 Jun 2009 16:06

That's fair enough. So round 2 months per continent then?

Hi Kev,
Not sure how the seasons will work out for you, but TDF in March is going to be tough. Unless you have experienced anything like it it will be difficult to imagine, you know how the heat in Austrailia can kill, well the cold down there can do the same. You will have to move some to be in Alaska for thier riding season, otherwise you going to have a hard time there as well.
We took 11 months and 40,000 miles to ride from Nova Scotia to Alaska then to TDF.

I'm planning to start in Buenos Aires in January, head down to TDF then north to L.A.

Let me know if you accelerate your plans.

hey

Hey guys,

Sorry I should have explained myself better I guess.

I'm planning on spending 5 months in the Americas and Canada and 4 months from Ireland to South Africa, I guess I never thought about Australia because it's my back yard so to speak. This is plenty of time for me. I rode from Malaysia to Ireland in 07 in 99 days and I found it more than enough time, I would like to stay on the road forever don't get me wrong but it all comes down to money for me not time. I recently came across couch surfing and am hoping this will offset costs a little and give a greater experience too.
All the best

Tdf

My understanding is that Dec / Jan are best weatherwise. Am currently looking at similar trip on BMW 650 Dakar. Believe that there is also a get together early December each year in Viedma?

Regards

Rob
