Horizons Unlimited - The HUBB - Budapest-Bamako Rally

The route has been announced: YouTube - Budapest-Bamako Route 2011 and they will pass by the Lac Rose in Dakar this year.

Their Facebook page has some activity.

I emailed the organisation with some questions, here is some info they replied:

I was in Mauritania and Mali this January/February. We had no problem at all. We enjoyed the strong protection of the Mauritanian army along the
route in the country. And they assured us that they will be there in 2011 as
well. I know that other events were cancelled, the official route was
changed in January by the organizers, but we are back, we are the "old"
organizers, and we went to Bamako without any problem. And we will go to
Bamako in 2011. The route will be modified, so we will spend 2 only 2 days
in Mauritania, and we have stages in Senegal in 2011 for the first time.

we had the most bikers in 2009, there were 20 bikers. In 2010
unfortunately the organizers didn't care about them, so there were only 6-7
of them. We have now 50% for bikers who come in competition category, so I
hope that they will come back to us :)
We plan to have a little different route for bikers, which fits them more as
last years' routes.

there is separate assistance for the bikers. (a Hungarian guy makes it
since 2007, the bikers are satisfied with his services) He ships the bikes -
if needed - from Budapest to Barcelona/Almeria, he ships the equipments, and
helps if there is a technical problem. (I think our official assistance
partner, Sandlander can also help in shipping your equipment, details later)

accommodation: some days you will have to sleep in your own tent, some
days there will be a chance to sleep in hotel, this will be announced later,
in the roadbook. It depends where we spend the night. There are official
campsites or hotels every day, where the organizers are to find, but of
course you can sleep wherever you want. We will provide more facilities for
accommodation. Please note that the accommodation is always your cost.
(campsites are mostly for free, but if you choose to go to a hotel, it has
to be paid by you)

The only issue for me is shipping the bike back from Bamako or Dakar = $$$
