Cape town to Turkey 07/09

Hi all,

I'm currently in Ghana after losing my two travelling companions for various family reasons and will hopefully be reaching South Africa by late June early july.

Rather than flying back to england from cape town I'll be continuing up the east coast of africa and back through europe all going well. If anyone is around or is planning a similar trip around this time and would like to meet up please let me know.

Cheers,

Mike D

Cape to Cairo

I plan to leave Cape Town about 15 September to ride the east coast route. Will you still be around by then? If not, lets meet in South Africa to compare notes: I have just completed Alaska to Ushuaia 2007 -09.

In South Africa

Hi Omar, when you get here, give me a shout. I am in Johannesburg until August, then Cape Town until 12 September when two of us ride north along the east coast to Cairo. If it suits your timing, perhaps we can ride some ways together?

Hi Omar

I am shipping my bike to South Africa From New Zealand in about 6 weeks. Will meet up with Daid in Cape Town for departure in September. I am looking forward to the trip north, Should be a great adventure.
It sounds like the cost of shipping from Egypt is very expesive. Shipping from NZ is about $1500 NZD to Capetown, Is there a boat that goes South from Egypt for shipping?
I will be traveling on a XF 650 so hopefully it lasts the beating north.
Might catch up at some stage.

Cheers Miles

Omar,
Check out www.mosskays.co.za or Full Throttle or Home-World of Accessories these are some of the bigger accesory stores in Jhb and might give you some idea of prices in SA as apposed to Europe. As far as tyres and servicing goes, there is more than enough in Jhb. Hope this helps. Good luck with the visa problems.

be warned though, I've recently had an accident on one of the dirt roads up the garden route, kid on a bicycle not looking where he was going so go carefull. I have a friend who recently had a similar accident with the cyclists, they seem to veer to the right as you approach?????
