BMW Off Road School (Wales), California Superbike School UK, SCUBA @ Scapa Flow

Hello,

I am planning a trip to the UK during the summer of 2014 with three primary goals in mind:
  1. Attend the BMW Off Road School in Abercrave, Wales
  2. Attend California Superbike School, probably at Cadwell Park
  3. Scuba dive at Scapa Flow, Orkney Islands

I live in Vancouver, BC and so will be flying into London and renting a bike from there. After attending BMW ORS and California Superbike, I will either be riding to the Orkney Islands, or possibly flying from London to Edinburgh or Inverness, getting another bike and riding to the Orkney Islands and scuba diving there.

I know the UK isn't known for being a scuba dive place, but apparently the diving at Scapa Flow is amazing, as several battleships and cruisers of the Imperial Germany Navy are lying on the sea floor there.

It would be great to have someone to go with, especially divers who aren't afraid of the cold

Welcome Michael,
You don't say how long you have for this trip but it should be easily done in 10-12 days with time for leisurely rides between each event, it is possible to do each ride in a day but it is worth spending more time particularly in Scotland.
I know a few people who have done the off road course and have enjoyed it immensely, the diving sounds good as well.

Hi Michael
If you do the super bike school at Cadwell park - PM me as I live not far away. Cadwell park is a brilliant track.

We are away after mid July though so It would have to be early summer.

Enjoy the trip.

I haven't booked yet but I'm thinking 22/23 June or July 4/5. How about yourselves?

22/23rd June!

We're also going to HU Donington Park on Friday and Saturday, if I can sort out the tickets. We have had to buy 4 day tickets as they only do Thurs/Fri or Sat/Sun, and we can't do Thursday. But, if it was something that you might be interested in, you could?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
