Azerbaijan/Georgia/Turkey

I'm currently stuck on the Afgan/Tajik border waiting for parts to repair a knacked BMW GSA - I believe that it is the fuel pump electronic unit-or hope so!! One on the way from UK.
Is anyone going through Azer/Georgia/Turkey towards the end of July/beginning of August?
All the best
Paul

Not sure if you're aware but in the US, BMW North America has done a major recall on the EWS Antenna ring...local dealerships are fixing the problem for bikes of a certain VIN number. Check your local dealer to see if your bike is one of the ones with the problem...

There was also a recall related to the fuel pump a few years back...but not sure if your bike is one of them...

BMW in Turkey is your nearest and best bet for parts and service...very nice shop...

The let me use one of their lists for a day while doing my own service. Greet them for me!

Paul,
Just to be clear...I'm not implying the EWS antenna ring is your problem(EWS will show up on your display if its a problem). I just wanted to make you aware that it has become an issue to the point that BMW NA is pro-actively replacing them on certain bikes.

AND that the Fuel Pump as well has had some known issues on certain models.

I hope I did not give you too much of a worry...enjoy your time in the Stans...great place!

Thanks

Cheers MotoEdde
The antenna ring did fail before I left UK and I did get the EWS message.
The dealer who has posted the fuel pump unit has also included anther sensing ring!!
Thanks for the info.
